    Well, since this is all they haven't replaced already then this would likely be the culprit.
    As I said earlier, it's very rare that the box develops a fault which causes it not to receive the signal. Did the bloke check the alignment of the dish?

    ESPN HD & BT Sport HD are both on the same frequency
    It's also a high frequency so likely to suffer from signal degradation more than the lower ones.

    What is the signal like on similar channels like BET UK or Nick Junior?
    Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

    Cable replaced today,so new box,dish and cable. Should be no problem now....famous last words
