If it's just a floor/ceiling, then the wifi from a homeplug in one room would be enough to reach the other room. (At least it would with the Devolo ones I used to have)

Ok great yes, i think your right there, so its probably just a case of getting the wifi from the router into the main downstairs office room, which the Ethernet Wifi plugs as mentioned on this thread (but wifi ones) - a pair should suffice??

    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

    Thank you.

I am thinking of getting these from Amazon but as you can see from a newbie and starter point of view, theres many variants of this model

Which would you say were the same ones you recommended?

I know from experience if I get a slight variable model number it won't do exactly as stated when it comes to wifi/networking etc! lol

OK, on the first page of your results, the only kit which is WiFi is this:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Devolo-dLAN-500-Wi-Fi-Starter/dp/B00C5IA4TW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1389609457&sr=8-5&keywords=dlan+500

That comes with 2 plugs. One connects by cable to your router and the other plug would go in the office/bedroom. That plug is the one with the WiFi in it.

Actually this maybe a long shot but apart from my main BT homehub which powers my wifi into the house (apart from the two rooms we are having trouble with)...

I also have a Netgear DG834GT wireless router doing nothing that still works?

I don't suppose before I shell out for the Plugs that this would be useful for anything of could be configured to boost my original signal in some way??

    Just thought i'd ask

    Ah yes, see post 9.
If you can run a network cable from your router into, or close to the new rooms, then you could put the Netgear router there and use it as an access point. You need to reconfigure it - which takes a minute or two, then it will work.

Thanks but not sure I can get an ethernet cable from my Router (used for wifi thorugh the house) to the Netgear and then close to the rooms. Its the same old problem i think so i might just be better going for the plugs you suggested that use the electrical cable
