I know these have nearly finished but looks like a serial "linker" and "shiller" With actionlove and aggett01

that is why we the users of eBay need to constantly report links because without us reporting links, eBay would become full of rubbish! :)

Going back a little, I know.. But.... If eBay does indeed become full of rubbish, then who loses out? It's eBay who will suffer, because there are a strictly finite number of stupid, gullible people in the world to keep the scammers solvent..

If the site becomes nothing but a mad frenzy of link and feedback selling then people will seek out a proper auction site, where auctions are monitored (even one person monitoring them would be nice, to actually confess that you do *nothing* to stop people trying to fleece the stupid is extraordinary) and where sellers are accountable if they don't obey reasonable trading practices.

I don't believe for a second that eBay can't afford to police themselves properly. I certainly don't agree ith the idea that we should do it for them. They are spending a great deal of money on expensive TV ads at present trying to lure novices to their site so that crooks can scan them out of their money. The worse a reputation the site gets, the less likely it is that newbite internet users are going to 'risk' being ripped off.

The fact that eBay can get away with providing a stage for crime like this (from which they make a great deal of money and are SO VERY pleased about) and yet Napster et al, doing exactly the same thing - making a gain of some description by knowingly and willingly creating a system for people to commit crimes - get taken to court, troubles me greatly. eBay must have some very smooth talking PR people for the MPIAA and RIAA not to have sued them to hell by now for 'allowing' copyright infringements left, right and centre let alone for th out and out crimes committed on eBay on a daily basis.

Let 'em rot, I say. Let the scammers kill the website, let the stupid folk waste their money (rob from the stupid give to the scammers) and then eventually, through their own stupendous lack of regard for us guys, eBay will watch as nobody is silly enough to risk trading there. Right now they make an estimated £12 a second. If it wasn't for members doing their policing job for them?....

If you list one, they will take your money and run to the bank.

If they are questioned on a consumer program they will say that it is against their rules http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/catalogs.html.

If you report a seller quoting their rules, they will ignore you, take the sellers money and run to the bank.

    The voice of reason.

I'm sorry guys, but you're fighting a losing battle, and you're fighting it on behalf of a company who don't want you to win it. They make money of every listing they don't end. They're no more prepared to protect the innocent (read: stupid) bidders than marlboro are going to prevent underage kiddies buying their fags.
If you enjoy reporting them, go ahead - I do it too you know. I also use rpoints link, earn 3 points by bidding on the 1p auctions and then report them anyway. Any ideas if we still get the points on cancelled auctions?

But seriously, don't expect to ever win :'(
  • Just wanted to let you know I completely agree with you doing this! However sadly it hasn't worked with the guy you reported above, as he is still at it from the looks of things - so hopefully bumping this thread up will work!

See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=57188&item=6727579658 don't know how to make it a link, sorry (Please can someone PM me how to do it please? Thanks!)

Are you sick of bidding on an item on eBay only to find out its a link?

Are you tired of trying to find a good item only to be swampped by items which are links?

    Then join my campaign!

Report links here. (Click on "Report listing violations or problems with another eBay member" at the very bottom of the page)

Report Pyramid Schemes here. (Click on "Report listing violations or problems with another eBay member" at the very bottom of the page)

Or you can pm me with the item number and I will report it for you!
Thanks! Lets make eBay a better place to shop!
  • Firstly, if anyone is willing to risk the possibility of receiving bad feedback in return, the computer parts seller reported previously http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=67857&item=6719383267&rd=1 has feedback of 98.1%. If this were to be reduced a couple of notches they would slip below the 98% necessary to remain a powerseller!
  • Secondly, I would be really grateful if anyone coming across illegal copies of CDs on eBay would report the listings to eBay http://pages.ebay.co.uk//help/contact_inline/report_listing.html
and then forward the email that you receive from eBay to antipiracy@bpi.co.uk.
    Cheers
    Rob
