Extreme eBay challenge-pay off credit cards £4000

  • Goldie girl I like the targeted approach... Maybe I should be selling my baby clothes in the middle of the night for mums doing the sleepless nights!

0 insertion fees are confusing me a bit. I list all my items to start at 99p which as far as I'm aware is free insertion anyway? So am I getting it wrong or is this of no benefit to me?
My extreme eBay challenge: pay off credit cards in 12 months: £259.25/£4000:rotfl:
  • On another note I had a look in the charity shops for items and the prices seemed too high to bother with. I only looked at clothing as that is the area I'm better with on eBay in terms of valuing.

Can anyone recommend items which might be worth looking out for?

    Have I got this right

I can sell 100 things for 99p for "free"

and then after that 10p each

plus a 2.5% final value fee and 20p (!) for getting paid by paypal?

    Nevertheless she persisted.

    At a total guess, collectables?

I was wondering this too - I wonder a lot on this thread! giving myself a float to make money selling stuff on Ebay.

  • The free listing days/weekends you can list up to 100 items for £1 or more (normally you are charged for anything over 99p).

Wow what a great challenge - will be watching this with interest. I ahve used ebay to sell loads of stuff since starting to focus on my debts.
    Will be following with interest.

  • Thanks for the breakdown Buffy, that is how I read it as well. I guess the free listings will be worth looking out for if/when I have some higher value items.

Broke kitty don't worry this month I had 41 sold, 41 unsold! I will relist the unsold next month, or I might change the format and put them in bundles.

I'm hoping to list a couple of things this evening once the kids are asleep.

...as well as write a report for work, clean the house and pack for a weekend away... Hmmm...

The other problem with spending more time on eBay is that I want to buy stuff!!! Have resisted so far. I just think about all the effort it takes me to get that few pounds in my paypal and then don't. Instead I'm keeping a list of the things and will pass it on to relatives for birthdays. I'm a sucker for cute clothes for the kids.

How do you resist spending? What are your weaknesses?

  • Lol hettie! I actually searched jigsaws on eBay- they do sell well! Might have to persuade the parents to part with a few next time I visit!

    Updated total ....drumroll please....:T

    £219.56

So, I only have another 5 things listed to finish this month, not going to reach the £300 target but still pretty proud.

Looking forward to making the first payment off one of my credit cards! At the moment I'm just set up to pay the minimum amount, but on my list to do is to change this to a standing order to pay off the same amount each month, so this along with my ebay payments should start seeing results...looking forward to seeing some statements with numbers going down!!

Away this weekend so not been able to list anything. Target for the week is to have 25 items all set up ready to be listed at the weekend. Right now I don't have a clue what they will be, would really love to hit £300 in February.:rotfl:
