So I'm setting myself a challenge as the thread title suggests!
I've been watching you wonderful people on here for some time now and taking inspiration. Now it's my time to make something happen.
I've been stuck with 2 credit cards totalling £4000 for nearly 2 years now and am soooo ready to be rid of them.
Unfortunately this is not the sum of our total debt and so paying them of hasn't really been an option. We have a number of loan payments to make each month and I have also just finished a maternity leave so not much money around and very little spare.
But enough excuses, I've seen the things that can be done when people but their minds to it on this forum.
...and so my challenge is to use eBay to provide additional money to put towards credit card debt. Anything has got to be an improvement on the minimum payments currently being made.
I would love to have these debts paid in 2014...though I'm not sure how much 'stuff' I really have in my small terraced house! Think it will take a little thinking outside of the box and the house.
Wish me luck- value all advice xx:p

So to kick things off I have 50 items selling this weekend- none are high value, mainly baby clothes, but every little counts hey?My extreme eBay challenge: pay off credit cards in 12 months: £259.25/£4000:rotfl:0

I am a little hooked this idea.........
Good luck

Thanks- so tonight 7 sold 12 unsold.
£38.27 after postage!
I've relisted the 12 unsold ...put a few more on so have 56 listed.
So a mixed start I guess. If anyone has any tips on selling clothes on eBay I'd be grateful as I think these will make up the majority of my items. My extreme eBay challenge: pay off credit cards in 12 months: £259.25/£4000:rotfl:0 -
This sounds like a great idea as I'm a bit of an ebayer myself
Don't forget to factor in eBay fees though !! "Can't you have your ***** cut off ?" "It's not as simple as that, Nigel"

I'm avoiding any insertion fees but will of course have the sellers fee. However to keep morale up I've made the executive decision that with the fees I'll make up the difference myself so the full amount goes on the credit cards. My extreme eBay challenge: pay off credit cards in 12 months: £259.25/£4000:rotfl:0

You wouldn't believe how much stuff you do have! I've been eBaying and using other sites to get rid of my stuff as we move at the end of January. My challenge this week is to raise £1000. That might sound high but when you are selling furniture, it makes it a little quicker than clothes bundles. Saying that I made £200 last week from children's clothes bundles - they are very popular :j
SO yes I think it is perfectly possible to achieve your goal. Good luck!Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -
Wow! That's great Floxxie we'll done. My husband sold a lot of our higher value items last year to pay for Christmas, but I haven't touched the shed yet so will see what's lurking in there! I have a travel system to sell but need to find it all and clean it up.
Did you bundle clothes by size or brand? My extreme eBay challenge: pay off credit cards in 12 months: £259.25/£4000:rotfl:0 -
Thank you. I sold the clothes in bundles by age and then on the listing title I put in the various brands. Age 3-4 and 11-12 was very popular.
I used to spend forever procrastinating about whether an item would sell. In fact there is a thread on here that I started a couple of years ago and I was amazed when others were actually using their 100 free listings. Now I have realised that it won't sell if it isn't listed and I have stopped being shocked at what does sell and try to list everyday
I still have listings to finish today but at present the sales have hit £250 and I am dreading the packing up and posting tomorrow :rotfl:Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -
Thanks- how much did you tend to bundle together?
I know!! I'm surprised at some of the stuff that has sold and equally surprised at what hasn't!
I'm definitely aiming to get 100 items on a month. Would love to see your eBay thread if you can find it anywhere?
I've just packaged my lot up- only 8 items but still hard work esp with the help of a one year old! Hope yours don't take too long.
So this weekends total is £71.10 :rotfl:My extreme eBay challenge: pay off credit cards in 12 months: £259.25/£4000:rotfl:0
