Mrs Trelfa's Master Plan For Trifle Towers

Hi midnight child,
Unfortunately we cannot get them back which is ok with me. I keep thinking that we should start a savings pot but my brain then says well your getting !!!! interest, wouldn't it be better to knock it off the mortgage.
Me and the hubby had a chat last night. We wrote down our earnings, all our outgoings, and played with the overpayment calculator as well as discussing what our goals are in terms of the mortgage and life plans. We have decided that we can afford to put in a bit extra into the overpaying - hubby is putting an extra £50 per month and I will put an extra £100 from August once I have finished paying my mum back for the money she lent me for my car. This will allow us to make a big impact in this early stage of the mortgage and also do the exploring the world that we want to do.
When we decided that we want to start trying for a baby we will ease back on some of the overpaying and divert the money to start saving for all the relative costs that come with a child.
I must say that the calculator did open the hubby's eyes to what a big impact a small change can make.House purchased November 2013

Hi mfw's ,
end of last week was very exhausting as we went to Alton Towers on Thursday. So chuffed as we had booked it in advance so was pot luck with the weather, but it was glorious sunshine. Also good was the fact that it was not the weekend or school holidays so it was completely empty. The max time we queued was 15 mins. We used £12.50 of Tesco club card points to buy one ticket and booked online with 25% discount for the other and took packed lunch and bought an unlimited refill drink and ice cream and some donuts. So all in all excellent value for money.
Hubby also mentioned that he wants to go to Barbados towards the end of the year so we need to book an appointment with the travel agents to price it up *gulp*.
Also still not had the paperwork from the bank about our new mortgage free date so I cannot update my signature. If not arrived in the post when I get home I will give them a call.House purchased November 2013

Hi just spotted your diary and wanted to wish you luck, although I am a little jealous of the lovely holidays :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Hi gsllygirl,
We did the Trelfa twist when we made the payment at the beginning of this month, however I did run round the house with the paperwork to show the hubby. I'm so sad.
Hi newgirly, thanks for stopping by. Some people think that all the holidays are a bit extravagant and I do admit that I think that the money could go into the mortgage. Then hubby reminds me that now is the time in our lives to see these places I.e. without kids and we have the health that we might not have later in our lives. We work hard and save hard for these and pay outright (no putting it on credit cards) so I feel we deserve it.House purchased November 2013

Defiantly a good plan to travel before kids
we had our three very young and always assumed we could offload them all while we are still fairly young , but now I see this plan may be flawed as I think they may all be at home for a fair few years yet :rotfl:
Please don't think I was passing judgement on what you spend your money on, I wish I had been as sensible with money as you are when I was younger! I am just genuinely jealous of nice holidaysMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

don't worry newgirly, it's more that I pass judgment on myself as I think that this could go on overpayments.
So we have a nice juicy £450 sat in our joint account waiting to be overpaid (normal 400 plus the extra 50 hubby agreed to put in) looks like it will be going in on Friday as hubby and I have got the day off work. Planning on going to Trafford centre for the day as we want to pop into the travel agents to price up the Caribbean and then in the evening I am reverting to my 12 year old self as we are going to see S Club 7 (Christmas present off the hubby)
Hope you all are having a good money saving dayHouse purchased November 2013

So it's been a very exhausting couple of days. I got call of my mum on Thursday that my granny had been taken into hospital uncle went round as she was meant to pick him up but never arrived and he had to get the police to break in and she was on the floor. So hubby and I dropped everything and went to hospital. She is still very ill but responding to treatment.
Mum made me go to the concert which helped take my mind off things and will be heading back to hospital tomorrow. My sister's have been down yesterday and today so we don't want to crowd her.
On a brighter note we did our overpayment of £450 today whoop whoop followed by the Trelfa twistso looking forward to the paperwork arriving in a week or so. Also went to travel agents to price up holiday. Now looking at going to Dominican republic but is going to stretch the budget by quite a bit so are now unsure what to do? Any suggestions welcome. Have thought about stopping overpayments but hubby says he can put in £250 overpayments even if I don't put anything in, but that makes me feel bad.
