Why can't I right click, copy and paste posts in process?

When I post on MSE, if it's a reasonable length of text, I like to spell-check it by cutting and pasting it into Word, (I can't get the MSE spell checker to work - I've downloaded it, but nothing happens when I click on the "abc" icon!). Cutting and pasting into Word always worked fine with the old MSE site.

Now, when I highlight the text and then right click, it offers the paste option, but there's no copy function. This is very inconvenient - can anyone help please? Thanks.

Try highlighting the text and using Ctrl + C then pasting the text or using Ctrl + V to paste.

I wanted to ask the same question as the OP, so thanks for that Wanty! :A

    Another way -

The Copy/Cut/Paste option from the Edit Menu (or from under 'Page' at the top-right in IE7) will almost always work even when the right-click menu is disabled.

Why don't you sort out the real problem and get the spell checker working!

Yes, that's exactly the reason I asked the following in my original post, in the hope that someone might offer an answer to this:

But unfortunately no one did! Alternatively, I thought someone may suggest a way to restore the "copy" function to the right click facility, as it is inconvenient, but unfortunately no one was able to help with this either. I was therefore grateful for Wanty's help.

As other people also appear to be interested in the points raised by my original post, perhaps you can provide the answer to these queries, espresso?

You have not said which browser you are actually using but if you have downloaded IESpell, see SRA's guide here. However if you are using another browser, you will need to install a suitable plug-in or toolbar with spell check i.e. the Google Toolbar has a spellchecker compatible with Firefox.

Thank you for your reply espresso. I'm using IE7. I've just tried uninstalling and reinstalling IeSpell and its now working fine.

I've never worked out how to use a spell checker. Never thought of copying my posts into word. (Though I probably still can't be bothered.) But I DO like to cut and paste or delete because I waffle and sometimes like to tidy up my posts before I press send. Thanks for the tip wanty. I'll be able to do it now.

    Why IS it not working?
