Hi Magsnoodle and welcome. Matched betting is a way of exploiting free bet offers in online betting by acting as both bookie and punter on the same bet (at two different places) Essentially if the odds are close enough the bets cancel each other out but since one of the bets is done with a freebie you come away with a good chunk of that money. So if the freebie is £10 you might come away with £8-9.50.

It is NOT gambling - very low risk if done properly - BUT it is not straightforward so if you are interested go to this board http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=41. Read and reread all the newbie posts. Do some mock bets with the calculators. Make sure you know what you are doing before you start. And one bit of advice that I always stuck with - don't use more of your own money than you can afford to lose. It is low risk but not no risk - you can make mistakes, fixtures can be cancelled and rules at different bookies be different. You need to double check all this. That said I did it for a year or so, made about £1K and didn't ever lose any money. I was very careful and stopped when I had used all the straightforward deals. More complex deals - more chance to make errors - and more money needed to play. :)

Right - have got a few days behind with YNAB so today need to catch everything up and then budget for the LED bulbs. Such a good deal on LED Hut that it is a no brainer - especially now I am working at home and have lights on much more. Thanks Ali-OK for the heads up.

Have made progress with my product over the last couple of days - still a way to go before I can release to the people waiting (and will be free to begin with) but all moving in the right direction. Talk later - nag me if I haven't done YNAB won't you?

YNAB updated yet? ;) :rotfl: I'm qualified at nagging according to DS!

You're welcome on the LEDs - hope you're as pleased with them as I am. I've even printed and filed the receipt in case any fail within the 5 year warranty. :D

Well done on the progress with your product too, that's great news. I broke my 'to do' list down into hourly tasks today and have made good progress. Any task finished within the allotted hour warranted a cup of tea - I know my motivator very well now :rotfl:

    *Cough* YNAB *Cough* ;)

A good job you checked the fitting on the GUs - there's a good choice in the 5.3s.

I've just ordered 3 more - got the 15% discount, but cashback was down at 11%. Still, all savings so can't complain. :)

YNAB done - yay! managed to squeeze everything in including OH's last work trip, the roof, the bulbs and a business expense I needed to make. So all good. Our Easter fund took a small hit but mostly I juggled unused bits from other pots - think should make it through to Friday on this OK! Will do the transfer to the main account though as YNAB tells me we have less than £200 in there and I don't want to risk something else going out before pay comes in.

Bulbs came to £71.75 for 12 with postage which I thought was pretty good. I got 11% cash back + the 15% discount - not to be sniffed at - should be another £7-8 back. Even the most conservative calculator gives me over £1K savings during the lifetime which is £200 a year - but I think with the amount saved on the bulbs it will be more. Anyway - even £200 is not to be sniffed at - that is 1 month's groceries.

Ooh! The builder I've just employed for the bathroom upgrade is going to put LEDs in ... this sounds good.

    Aha! Rumbled :D

I'm doing good, thank :) and guess what, I purposely didn't take any painkillers to go to sleep last night, and it was fine :) I think I'm on the mend from the pain (tho spots are still, um, livid :o).

How gone is yours? I'm sincerely hoping it *is* gone?
