Clarification on new Tobacco Licensing LAws

All good points, thanks. I'll be asking to speak to the branch manager tomorrow for an explanation.0

My guess is that either the sales assistant has been trained incorrectly, or has chosen to blame the law for him/her not wanting to serve you.
Or more likely, they were trained to believe it was the law.
when i worked at Tescos, they made no distinction between the actual law and their own policy, and trained everyone as if their policy was law.0 -

Plain and simply because they had cashed up the tills and closed the tobacco part, nothing else, they all do it0

Why do people feel the need to tell others to hit the spam button, gets right on my nerves, some people will be able to deduce it is spam and wont bother clicking it, others will deduce it is spam and will click it and then there are the thickos that wont even get a hint it is spam so will probably do neither.0

So the spam post has now gone, but in it's place we now have three, now four, posts discussing that spam post.
Which is worse?
I'm with Transient on this.0 -

The shop closed at 9pm. They announced that the shop had closed, yet you still tried to purchase something.
Maybe the shop was only allowed to be open to sell anything till 9pm?
Cant see why you had to escalate the matter to the sales assistant, the supervisor, the security guard and the duty manager! Seems very OTT!0 -
I used to get IDed to buy cigarette papers. I only bought them because I played the flute a lot and they're excellent for cleaning sticky keys! How can one little item cause so much annoyance, eh?0

I know. This basically seems to be a case of 'I walked into to shop when it was closing, they didn't serve me. I can't take it so much so as I'm even prepared to waste £XXX's of tax payers money contacting goverment funded bodies because I'm not happy about it to try and find a reason so that I can force them to serve me in future.'
Oddly enough I don't seem to have much sympathy with the op!0
