I suggest replacing the battery with a new one, as I am sure that the problem is faulty battery contacts and the phone itself is OK. The battery contacts, which act as a socket, have become too wide and are therefore not making a proper connection with the pins on the phone. Should be able to get a free replacement battery under warranty - type Nokia BL-5J.
For info - I was able to bend my battery contacts slightly using a small pin, making the gap narrower and that fixed the fault, confirming contacts were the problem.0
