Hi i got an unwanted charge on my statement so i phoned barclays and they put me straight through to the fraud department. I was just wondering how long this process will take and what would happen next?

Generally, they have to refund the disputed transaction almost instantly, then they may take as much time as they want for the investigation. They can debit the money back if they find against you.0

Will they get back in touch with me0
-
Maybe. Or maybe not.
If they have not refunded the transaction yet, I think it's worth contracting them and reminding that they have to do this.0 -
If they have not refunded yet then maybe its better you contact them for a update.0

Warning about Barclays- if you've ever used the company that the transaction is for yourself, they will try to fob you off as their policy is to say that you must have authorised the transaction. This happened to me- they refused to even cancel my debit card. I had to get onto Action Fraud before they would even stop my debit card let alone take me seriously.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

My Daughter has had 6 unknown withdrawals from her account using an ATM machine totalling £1500, these were over a period of 5 days ,after she used a machine to take out £50.00 .
When she contacted the fraud dept they said it must have been her card used as the pin was correct first time ,when questioned as to the process of 'skimming ' the dept said skimmed cards are used abroad not in the UK.
Has anyone got any links to current figures on fraudulent use of cards in the UK as I have a feeling this may be the start of a long fight0 -

It would be unusual for a skimmed card to be used in the UK (If the skimmed card had a chip, which it did) as the bank would normally decline a transaction attempt with just the magnetic stripe. Get the fraud department to check the logs and ask if the magnetic stripe or chip was used.0 -

If the bank refuses to refund the money, demand a proof that all transactions were chip&pin.
If they can prove this and withdraws were made in UK, then almost definitely the original card was used.
Try to figure how this could have happened.0 -
well that's not good news we will await the banks reply0

Where were the ATM's which were used ? If they were local to your daughter, it's probably someone she knows who is using the card.
The bank can also identify whether the chip in the card has been read so can confirm whether it is the original card or not.0
