And I naturally never queried with my hubs whether or not I could use it for that, or jumped a jig when I saw someone else 'absolutely didn't use' hers for that purpose. ;)

My friend was doing that and her little girl was mesmerised watching it melt till she got her head too close and her hair got tangled in the hairdryer. Ended in tears. :p

I thought I'd never get these marks out of my rug. They were months old and wouldn't shift with my standby Fairy Liquid. Just held the steam on the patches for a few moments and went back and forth a few times and lifted right off.
Amazing, with no needs for chemicals.

It's OK. DH defrosts the freezer for me and he has no hair!!!!

Just seen my Morphy Richards 9 in 1 is in the Tesco sale for £57.50. Feel cheated now, Argos did me. :p

Not sure which ones others are using, Jessie. I've noticed that youtube has videos of the one I have which is useful to get an idea of what these mops will do.

On the matter of carpet cleaning - mine has a little frame thing that the mop sits in which, I assume, is to make it glide over the carpet and protect it somewhat from the heat.
(might be totally wrong about the reasons for that).
Anyway, not sure if they all come with that so watch you wool carpets if not.

BTW, mine was fine on my wool rug.

Rusty - I have with my laminate and they seem fine. Don't know how others have faired.
Might be worth noting that mine leaves the floor dry (and the carpets and rugs for that matter).
If you had one that leaves water behind it might be another matter.
The steam certainly hasn't lifted the laminate so far.

Polly - if your door is a fair bit mucky its so much more fun! Keep your cloth to hand to wipe the door as you go. A really satisfying job.:p

Anyone tried steaming their windows yet? I'm a bit nervous about hot steam and ice cold windows and the possibility they might crack.

I haven't done windows but did do my huge mirror. I just point the steam nozzle at the glass and move it quickly around without getting too near. I then use a none fluffy micro cloth and it really shines.
  • I have a Vax s87 which i got for £25 was a glitch i found via Hotdeals i have never used it as yet i really would prefer the one that does the whole house this is just a floor one.

Have used it on the outside of our windows, no problem.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I wish I'd bought one that comes apart to a handheld bit. I can imagine using the whole mop on the oven door, but not hoisting it up to windows, unfortunately.

I absolutely did not use mine to defrost the freezer. Because that would be dangerous. ;)

Oooh, I should definitely not replace my wooden spoon with my steam mop for defrosting the freezer. Because I don't hit ice with a wooden spoon or spray it with water saltier than the Red Sea, honest.

I have the Morphy Richards 9-in-1 one and so far, it's been boss. It's coming in to tackle my office and office kitchen, perhaps early one morning so no-one notices my rampant OCD.
I use it for pretty much everything at home - cleaning the hob, windows, floors, I use the handheld bit with the steam pointing attachment on the loo once it's been cleaned with bleach and stardrops.
If you're as sad as me, it cleans skirting board up lovely :-D

Mine is the little yello so not exactly a mop more a tank with a trunk.
I didn't use mine to defrost the fridge and freezer at DD's student flat which was so frozen that the doors wouldn't shut and took hours and hours.
It gets bolognaise off carpets too.
Not for emulsion paint or eggshell ,it will take it off.
Works on ceramic floor tiles and wall tiles
    The hob
    The oven door
The metal handles and the cabinet doors in the kitchen
Gooey spilled stuff in student kitchen cupboards
It supposedly does windows but I am a bit scared to try it .

We have a little tiny handheld one that I bought in Lidl a few years back that is quite handy for a quick whip round of taps and shiny things.

We use ours for most things as our daughter has a very sensitive chest so surface sprays etc are generally a no no for us.
