I wouldn't really know, as I use mp3 NOT iTunes, Android\windows NOT Mac\Apple. As far as I am aware, there are NO apple products that would play mp3 tunes. This being said, I will re-iterate that as I don't have any apple products, I am not sure.

Regarding the OP, "Standard USB uses a master/slave architecture; a host acts as the master device for the entire bus, and a USB device acts as the slave. Devices are designed from the start to act in one role or the other - computers are generally set up to be hosts, while printers (for instance) are normally slaves." From Wikipedia Unless your gadget is 'USB-On-The-Go', it will almost certainly be a USB Slave. Only computers and laptops tended to be USB Master devices. The long and short of it - you generally can't plug USB gadgets into USB gadgets.
Would you say that to a stranger's face in the street? No? Then why type it on a forum?

If you read the post properly you will see I have indicated that I am unsure as I DONT have any apple products......
You don't need to own an Apple product to know that they are compatable with PCs, of course they are. They don't need Apple branded electricity to run either, nor do they need to use Apple branded wifi.

They wouldn't be able to sell very many iPhones / iPods / iPads if you had to have a Mac to use them.

Mp3 is a container format for music, iTunes is a music/video/app management application.

    All Apple devices support MP3.

If you don't own and don't understand Apple products then please don't post uninformed (wrong) comments in this thread.

With respect to the OP's problem, I'd suggest trying syncios. It works very nicely from my brief experience of it: It's free software, and it allows you to open the apple devices "viewable" folders like any other drive, and copy stuff to and from them using the apple USB cable. Worth a shot since it's free and simple to use.

So why are you even posting in a thread asking for advice on how to use products and software you don't own, use or have experience of?

You've got about 5 things wrong, and none right that I can see.

Apple products DO play mp3's (Drag and drop into itunes, sync with device)
Apple products DO play nicely with windows, using either itunes or Syncios.

The one problem people may encounter at the moment is that iOS7 doesn't play nicely with Linux. It goes into an authentication loop and you can't access the device at all.

Anyone have any experience with devices such that in post #11? Lightning adapter with USB and card reader.

What content can you actually open on an iPad via a USB stick because Apple products are picky on formats. I imagine pictures would open but lets say you have PDFs or a video (mp4 or avi) and music (mp3 which you'd normally have to sync via iTunes). Anyone tried?

I have an iPad and was just reading this thread....now I'm curious. :D

As far as I know, the iPad will only read from the SD card for importing photos into the photo app, and from a PictBridge-enabled camera plugged into USB for the same reason.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Apple want you to buy all content through them or their partners, even for stuff you already own, so they deliberately make it difficult as hell to get anything else on to their devices.
Still rolling rolling rolling...... :) <
