Lovely to 'see' you posting, KJ, thanks for the update. :hello:

Numpty in the corner here had to look up images for 'flip chart' [:o] - sounds much more fun than trying to organise an event using only a pile of pegged-together re-used envelopes, bearing various lists..

    Hi Greying.

Every note from you puts a smile on my face. Your cooking is inspirational and your relentless drive. I can almost hear that mantra of "one more step, one more step" in your head.

Proof positive that I am surrounded by the very best of people. Sometimes it requires the brakes to be firmly applied before we even start to recognise the beauty that surrounds us.

Sitting waiting for MOT man to arrive, closely followed by District Nurses. Been incredibly tired all weekend by we were running about mad most of last week. I think (for me) it's conclusive evidence that running about physically exhausts me far more than mentally stressing about flats etc. That said, combine the physical and mental and I'm completely doolally.

Have a grand day one and all xxx

    Hello All.

Apologies for being a bit sporadic. Brain is a bit messed up at the moment but sure it will all return in a bit (or two bits).

What I'd thought about for SB's 21st is below. Please give me your honest thoughts and ideas.

I have 4 bedrooms and an en-suite plus bathroom upstairs. SB and I have largest bedrooms, I have en-suite and he has family bathroom with both a shower and bath. He loves baths :j:j

The other two smaller bedrooms (both doubles) are a spare room and my office.

My idea for his birthday is to completely revamp his bedroom and the spare room (they're across the hall from each other). Make the spare room his sleeping / calm space. No elecricals really but his bed, clothes, maybe a bookcase of odds and sods. But overall quiet, serene etc.

His current bedroom would become almost an in-house shed. Build him a desk for his studies, lots if storage and a huge working and display area for his lego. Also thinking about erecting a track the entire circumference of the room, just sitting the height of his door frame and having lego trains circulating which he can stop and start from his control area.

He really seems to like the idea, and SB being SB, he'd get a million times more use from that than a kilt or watch.

What do you lovlies think? What would you put into a dream room for you or your "SB"? If you think I'm mad, you're allowed to say that too.

THis won't be and I don't expect it to be cheap. All 4 rooms have had the least amount of upgrading since we moved in 15 years ago. Don't think any of the carpets have been changed. 3 rooms also have the originally awful mirrored wardrobe doors so they'll be going soon.

I want this to be something very special for him. I'm exhausted at the moment so a trip to the otherside of Edinburgh is daunting, never mind the world. Fresh eyes and ideas would be lovely.

    KJ xx

I love the idea of the train tracks - I think I said to you that my brother is also a LEGO aficionado, and I know that he would kill for that kind of setup :D

I think it's a great idea and I'm sure that SB will love it. I do worry about the cats chasing the trains though ;)

With just you and him in a 4 bedder, and one of the 3rd/4th rooms being a spare, it makes sense to "gift" him the spare! Are you thinking of honest opinions about whether you or he should have it? I'd say him, most definitely, so that the rest of the place (i.e. downstairs, the kitchen and whatnot) is still yours! As to whats in it, that depends on his interests, no clue whatsoever. But I did just happen to see a Youve Been Framed clip of a cat chasing a train the other day, and a dog that swept it off the track by wagging its tail :D:D:D I think there are probably a lot of people who think its a great idea
