    Hi KC.

I'm very happy to give it to him, no questions. We bumble along very happily together and this would give us two private rooms each...and we'll continue to share everything else. Grandad also has his little flat with living room, bedroom, kitchenette and shower-room.

I think it was more seeing what ideas people had about the space...how we could slice and dice it. I've asked him to tell me on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is minimal involvement and 10 is he rubber stamps every decision, how much involvement he wants. I wanted to try and get a balance between him getting what he wants but also having some surprises in there. He says about 7ish so I think we're on the same page. Friends are also up for helping with declutter and I texted joiner today so that's us up and running (very slowly) but moving in the right direction.

    KJ xx

    I was going to say 3 words;
    GO. FOR. IT

And then I read your latest post.... I'm not coming up with any *clever* answers about utilising the space and its *divvying* up, as I can't currently visualise it. However, I have a question regarding the work desk and the display area - if it were me........ I wonder if I would be disciplined enough to *hit da books* when my (far more) interesting leisure/pleasure activities were beckoning me/on display...... :D

Not too sure that that is too helpful - unless you end up with a *bondesque* (as in 007) *turntable* bookcase/study zone on one side and the *pleasure dome* on t'other - they can occupy the same space, but you can only use one at a time...... yer joiners gonna kill me! :rotfl:

However, I can also see the point of making a bedroom space a calm zone - and endorse the minimal electricals etc etc in that space.

If you've done and dusted customising SB's pad, well don't forget you'd be welcome here to sort out my [STRIKE]dump[/STRIKE] house anyday of the week. You'd have full access to the family allowance for your budget....... our allowance is currently tuppence, should I put the kettle on? :rotfl:

Great to see you - keep picking our brains, I'm sure you've got it sussed, but we like to feel useful :D:D:D

Good to hear from you KJ, I say go for it for the plans for "SB's present", this would mean more to him than a wasted present. I prefer presents that will be used especially on a daily basis. You know him the best and know what he would like.

    Keep up the good work.xx

Hi KJ - yep, I'm with Greying, sorry, I'm of no help whatever with what should be there - I've no kids myself, so I've just watched my sister's decisions on this sort of thing, not had to make them myself (phew! they seem incredibly difficult!). I like that you asked him how involved he wanted to be, though, thats great :)

Hello all and thank you as always for the kind thoughts and great ideas.

Had a busy morning. MacMillans were round to try and review my DLA award. They're convinced I should be on higher rate care rather than lowest so we'll see how that goes.

District Nurses and GPs have got me back on the syringe driver for anti-sickness and more than doubled the dose. Nighttime pain relief has also been doubled to see if I can get through the night.

And, last but not least, joiner has just called and is on his way round. We're having a Ladies Committee night a week on Tuesday to talk through how be plan this. Herding Cats comes to mind but in the nicest possible way obviously. :rotfl:

  • Personally I think it sounds epic - the whole bedroom plans. Lovely I moved my favourite bed in the universe 1000 miles round trip and heefed it up to the top of a tenament to keep my young loon sleeping.

And gave him the pick of the hoose to make sure his first alone living space was epic and comfy.

    I'm with ya girl. :D

Its in the job spec. and we love the challenge.

I'm glad the nurses are thinking of you too and working a plan which works for you. Honest.

Think of you loads. Doon by for a bit, will think of you some more.

    :)

Keep smiling and pointing orders at folks :)

Just when you feel like it.

LOVE the idea for SB's birthday - how fabulous! It will also give you a project to focus on which can only be good for you. It sounds amazing and I love the idea for the train track. I bet it looks brilliant when it's all done.

Lovely, lovely to hear from you too and I'll cross my fingers for a successful increase in level of care. Wishing you the very best of everything. x

The room sounds like a fabulous idea, he is a lucky boy! As you've said he will enjoy this so much more than a typical 21st birthday item. You might need to make an appointment to see him though :) it sounds like the sort of man cave every boy dreams of and he might need surgically removing for a few lines of conversation now and then!

Hello KJ - just catching up with your diary. What a fab idea for SB's 21st! For my DS's 21st we got him a package for him and a friend to go to Birmingham to see Aston Villa ( which they both support) including overnight hotel stay, tour of ground and match. Both he and friend were over the moon and I still maintain we got his mate a better 21st present than his own parents did! They had a great time. And it saved us the hassle of hearing him stumbling in at stupid o'clock. Hope you are keeping well.
