  • Thanks guys I have had a blip day today BUT I think I can recover from it and had I thought it through in the first place instead of being on the phone to my sons school it probably wouldn't have happened. So I went to tesco's because I needed some 'bits' I then impulsed bought a couple of things that I apparently couldn't resist! Anyway the result was spending £22.32 getting that down to £20.17 with coupons and got an extra 80 clubcard points with another voucher :j

As I was on the phone and had not thought it through early enough I pulled out my credit card! I knew my current account couldn't cover it and had forgotten that my 2nd current account had my child benefit in it and I could have used that!

So I am about to pay my credit card back and therefore correcting my slip up :D

I still need to go through my cupboards and freezer to sort out what I have and what I can do with it as I was hoping not to buy much shopping until at least another week or two!

Still we need to eat and survive!

Ok on the money front having got home and checked my bank a bill has gone out that was less than budgeted so the difference has gone into my savings account. I am despeartely trying to save for emergencies so this has helped :-)

Not so good news is I have car mot repairs and tax to pay for and my HUGE gas and electric bills all by the end of the month! I am praying very hard for a miracle or at least a way of sorting it without using my plastic friend/enemy!

Too much buzzing around in my head but if all else fails I will just have to sort out payment plans with them although I am thinking maybe I can swap provider and tae the debt with me? Must check this out!

Onwards and upwards everybody small overpayments and small extra payments chipping away slowly is better than burying my head in the sand and living a life I can not afford! The debts will be gone and my sanity will be saved :D

  • Swagbucks is still slow but I managed 200 yesterday so not as slow as it has been!

I have had a nasty surprise I put the car in for an mot and it failed I was told a ball park figure to fix it and agreed to it. The garage did all the work then discovered something else that needed doing anyway they went ahead without consulting me basically and my bill has more than doubled! The car isn't even worth the cost of repairs! I certainly wouldn't have agreed to them at the price it's cost! I could cry but there is absolutely no point so thankfully my Dad has come to my rescue and is lending me the money and I am paying him back monthly! This is great but it does mean that my debt busting plans have kind of taken a hit!

On better news I have been issued £5 amazon voucher from swagbucks so back to waiting for 1 now. I also had an email yesterday from sun+ I signed up with them back in Nov/Dec time as they had a deal sign up for £1 and get a £15 amazon voucher. I then shortly after signed up again with a different email and card as they had the same offer but £20 tesco voucher instead of amazon! Well I got the tesco voucher in Dec and to be honest wrote off the amazon one thinking it doubtful I would get both. Well yesterday's email was the £15 amazon voucher :j I am so pleased as now my amazon acount is £55 and waiting on swagbucks for another £5 :j My plan is to get this as high as possible and get as much from amazon as I can at christmas :D

I'm still after the slate placemat set that I was hoping to have enough from swagbucks to buy before christmas. Now I don't know if I should buy it as I had worked hard to get it before christmas but failed or do I wait until next christmas and buy it if I have enough left in the account and obviously if it's still there to buy? That said it's lovely seeing my gift card balance rise :-) not sure how I would feel if it got emptied now :-(

I hope your all doing well it's hard keeping up momentum sometimes isn't it? I am already starting to feel the pull of bad habits and wanting to go shopping! I'm not going to as I have no money and am determined not to pull out the plastic! It makes me realise that stress induces the feeling of wanting to shop so I thought I would come and update here instead and try to re focus!

The car situation is in hand so now I need to work out how I am going to pay over £300 gas and electric bills! Time to number crunch I think don't you :rotfl:

I have faith and am religous and think the devil may be playing with me :D I decided that this year is the year I make a huge dent in my debts and what happens I start the year off needing to find an extra £800 :rotfl:

    Still onwards and upwards!

Your comment about Tesco made me chuckle.....I went in for moisturiser the other night and came out with cheesecake!!!! Oops! (I'm on a diet......)

I' also doing a personal 1% challenge....my DH was made redundant without warning in September and we have £5K on a CC which we now have to pay (expenses etc which the company have refused to pay, long story!). Anyway, I have broken it into chunks of £50 and have a chart of 100 squares which I colour in every time I pay off a £50. Aiming to clear it by the end of the year........

Good luck with your journey! It will be so worth it xx
  • Sorry to hear about your husband. I hope you have a much better year this year :-)

Me and Tesco's often battle the stuff just jumps into my trolley and I loose all control lol.

The 1% challenge is a great way of looking at your debts they become so much more acheivable I just need to resist pulling out the plastic!

    Good luck :-)

  • So last night was interesting! Out of nowhere my son claims 'Mum the fridge freezer is off!' Well apparently the washing mashine that has not been used in a few days has all of a sudden tripped all the electrics so no sockets working in the kitchen! I did the whole turn everything off and turn it on one by one thing to find it was the washing machine!

I am just very grateful that all those years ago when I bought it I took out the extra warranty at £7.99 a month. Funny thing was that just a few days ago I was thinking do I really need that? It's a lot of money that I could do with for other things! I've not needed it in all those years had I just put 7.99 away each month I could probably buy another machine by now!

Anyway at least (hopefully) it's covered by my policy if only I could find the damn thing!

    Happy days.

  • So whose been a naughty girl? ........ That would be me then! I have been out spending today and I know I shouldn't have spent quite as much as I have BUT in my defence I bought loads of packets of half price seeds and 2 half price pea frames! My friend and I are planning on starting of seeds and selling them at bootfairs to make a little bit of money although the cost of pots its not very good for this so we are looking into making paper pots from newspaper to keep the costs down. Obviously getting half price seeds has helped but I seem to think 'oh they are half price so I can buy more!' I really need to stop thinking like this! Anyhow it's done now and so I can start planning what I am growing to sell and costs and what I need to grow for me and my son to keep the shopping bill down. I am also thinking of doing a grow your own pack of seeds to sell with a selection of different veg seeds as I find when you buy seeds you have to buy a pack with far more than you want in so this way you get a small amount of a selection. What do you think about this idea? Good or bad idea?

    In other news

I am 150 bucks away from cashing out on swagbucks again and am still waiting for the last gift card to come through :-)

I have not managed to pay any more extra payments but have managed to move some more money into my saving account taking it to just over £35 I know it's not much but I am starting from nothing so I am pleased with it :-)

I think that's all to report for now. How are you guys doing? Well I hope

  • I have just claimed another £5 amazon voucher from swagbucks BUT I have had a problem with them. The last voucher I claimed (that I am still waiting for) ended up in the 'Email us for approval' section! So I emailed and apparently they are not happy with my sbtv viewing! I think because I use it alot to top up to either my daily goal for the swagbucks bonus or my own personal goal it seems they think I may be cheating?! So apparently now I have emailed they are ok with everything and will process my claim but they are keeping an eye on my account! I wasn't going to claim anymore until the other one came through but I thought I might as well as what use are the swagbucks to me they will either process them or not! So now the waiting game!

Once these 2 gift certificates come through that will be a balance of £65 in amazon :-) I have decided not to order the slate placemats that I wanted just yet as the more that goes in the account the less I want to spend it :rotfl:

I am hoping that amazon will cover a big chunk if not all of christmas 2014 :D

I won a whole 40p on jackpot joy :D and once that creeps up to a reasonable amount I will cash out and put it towards a credit card!

Loads of bills came today all expected but still depressing all the same!

After my big spending frenzy yesterday I am waiting for my bank account to catch up with its self so I know exactly where I am. Then I can think about paying for my car tax and bills and stepping up my frugal living!

    Hope your all ok :)
