Can I do this?

Ok basically I am here writing this in hope it will make me accountable and keep me on track!

I have debts of £5840 (rounded figure) that I really want to clear as much as possible this year! I have signed up to various challenges as you can see by my signature and I am off the mark with a few of them :-)

I have been doing things and wishing I had somewhere to jot them down etc hence ending up here. So here is the done so far list

I went out and bought files, paper, pens and glue so I can make my 1% challenge charts for each debt. They will be glued to the back of the file and all statements for each debt will be placed in the file along with a record of what I have paid when I have paid it how much interest that includes and how much of the actual debt has been payed!

I have opened a new saving account as the one I have at the moment I tend to use as a holding account for my huge credit card bill so I know I can pay it when it comes in! The idea is I can put actual savings in this new saving account!

I am keeping records on any wins on jackpot joy and where they are going ie to what debt! The same with swagbucks (I always cash out amazon vouchers and am hoping to save at least a couple of hundred there for next christmas). I have just started with GiftHulk and will do the same as swagbucks.

I think thats everything for now but could easily be wrong :-)

Ok so my debts are as follows :(

Debt 1 Vanquis £3000 (its actually less than this but until I get my next statement I cant be exact) 1% = £30
Debt 2 Capital One £182.05 1% = £1.83
Debt 3 Simply be £476.17 1% = £4.77
Debt 4 Very £219.93 1% = £2.20
Debt 5 Littlewoods £126.40 1% = £1.58
Debt 6 Isme £351.11 1% = £3.52
Debt 7 Aqua £1000 (again awaiting statement) 1% = £10.00
Debt 8 Overdraft £450 1% = £4.50

Ok the plan Pay off Vanquis and capital one first vanquis because its so high in interest and my biggest debt, capital one because its interest free so I want it cleared before the interest free bit stops!

So far this year (and the figures above include this) I have made a £1.71 payment to capital one as part of my 1 payment a week challenge hence the low amount but it all helps! I literaly rounded down my bank balance. I have paid £31.60 to littlewoods (first bill so interest free) this was a whopping 20% towards my 1% challenge :-).

My signature is updated with my savings through challenges so I can keep track of those there :-)

I think I have covered everything and feel so much better getting it all out of my head!

Now the hard part! Sticking to it and making it happen!

Wish me luck :)

  • Ok Simply be is now 3% paid off with £2.69 towards the next 1%
Isme is 5% paid off and £3.10 towards the next 1%

I must admit I am actually getting a buzz out of paying my bills now and highly recomend you look into the 1% challenge. Having split all of my debts into 100 parts it seems more managable somehow. Certainly more acheivable :-)

  • Just ordered my 2nd £5 amazon voucher from swagbucks this year :-) I have £35 in amazon already and before christmas was saving up for some lovely placemats BUT they are (I think) £44.99 plus £8.99 delivery! I had hoped to of earnt enought to pay for them with swagbucks vouchers before christmas so all future vouchers goes towards christmas 2014 but now don't know if I should buy them and save for christmas late or forget about it :-( Oh well I have time to decide I suppose as I still haven't got enough to pay for them yet anyway :-)

  • So what have I managed today?

I have earnt 211 swagbucks today bringing my total to 252 so well on my way to cashing out again this will be the 3rd voucher this year :-). I am hoping to earn 250 a day so may go back and watch some ads to boost that up a bit :-)

I have joined adpoints and have earnt 250 points already and I think that is all I can earn for the week so roll on midnight Sunday when my points clear and a new week begins. The nectar points earnt will go towards christmas 2014 so every 250 points is £1.25 for my christmas pot :-)

Apart from that not alot! I have found a jar that I can throw my loose change into and so far I have a grand total of 45p! Not much granted but I am saving 20p's and 50p's seperately so not bad really I suppose especially as I have not really left the house this year and as I have hardly left the house I have not spent any money :-)

Now I must get something out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow so I am not tempted to go shopping!

I hope everyone is keeping well and sticking to their challenges :-)
