My main workstation, monitor with speakers and router are all powered via an APC Uninterruptable Power Supply. It regularly has to cope with Brown Outs and temporary Black Outs and cope it does, extremely well. It also keeps the supply voltage trimmed to the optimum. Best money I have ever spent since our supply is ancient and unreliable.

I also have to use several extension leads and I always buy the Power Surge Protection ones with the individually switchable sockets. Despite all our power supply problems I have never had one of these multiple outlets toast a device ever.
