I feel quite bad because I posted too early last time. DH came in with a bottle of wine because he fancied a drink and it was too hard to say no.

Today is my son's 21st birthday and I am not having drink, so my total remains 8/20

I won't make my target this month but I do hope I manage to get another smiley.

Well done to everyone else doing the challenge. I am in awe of everyone doing a dry January.

For anyone who's surprised by how much more they're eating while doing Dry January - don't worry. You're not damaging your system, you're topping up your sugar levels because your body is used to absorbing a shedload of calories from the booze. If you try to tackle more than one bad habit at a time, your chance of failing skyrockets.

Actually, I always find that I eat less, and better, when I'm not drinking and always lose weight. As I always say, nobody drinks 6 pints or has a bottle of wine and then decides to eat a salad. After a few drinks my self control goes out the window.
