:( Satchmo - not good :( Sending virtual anti-Ds for your DH and hugs for you x

I'm actually feeling very low ATM. I'm in bed avoiding my husband who is ranting and raving at my inept handling of the contents claim...I mean, of course, I should've known the Sainsbury's carrier bag abandoned in the ripped out shell of our former kitchen contained his hard drive with all his photos on it from the year dot. I'm not sure if it's gone into storage or landfill, but if it was that precious, why leave it there? Pft.

Really want a drink, but have gone to bed instead. 14/19 please Shaggy x

Sorry you are bearing the brunt of your DH's raving Dizzy Imp. My guess is he knows its not your fault, but he can't bring himself to own up to himself that his inaction has consequences.

Well done on heading to bed instead of to the bottle (I wish I'd had your willpower).
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Can't believe I was up til 1.30am to cover an inept colleague and satisfy the needs of a ranty individual. still pleased I did it all then and don't have major panic stations on this morning (tbh I wouldn't have slept a wink if I'd left it). Of course, I won't hold my breath until said individual has communicated his satisfaction or displeasure with my work. Today will be AFD. If I don't declare now it might go horribly wrong! 13/23 please shaggy

Thanks for the hugs. DH is improving, and back to speaking. I overdid the wine last night, which I regretted today.

I'm glad things are a bit better, Satchmo. Don't beat yourself up about overdoing it - you're here, you're working on it and you're doing great. More (((hugs))) to help you resist next time.

Huge (((hugs))) for you, too, Dizzy. It's always so much easier to blame the person who actually did something than take responsibility for dealing with disasters. I get a tad impatient with people who leave problems to me to sort out, don't show any appreciation of the often very considerable effort I go to, to make the bl***y thing work, and then whinge when it didn't turn out as perfectly as they think it should have. No sympathies for your OH, huge respect for you going to bed rather than to fetch some wine and massive (((hugs))) for you to keep you going.

Debjay, it was very quiet for the whole of December last year, this year seems quite busy in comparison to me!

    18/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

That's a very positive post piggles and I think you're absolutely right that you need to find something else to do to replace he drinking. I think the craving sugar is normal too although fortunately it didn't happen to me.

Thanks maman :) I've at least got a little routine I do of an evening, but I'm still sat in the same place and there's nowhere else to sit, apart from at the computer but that goes off at about 7pm.

The cranberry works well for the time being, and tidying now and again when things get left and not put back.

I think your progress is amazing Piggles. Good on you!

I hope the assessment gives you some helpful information at the very least, Piggles. And don't forget, although there are likely to be funding restrictions - there always were. We've never given the NHS carte blanche with its budget, it's just that it was never so obviously political as it is now. Treatments are carried out, help is given and you may be the person that matches the funding criteria that your local NHS providers have. If not, ask them why not. The NHS is yours, not the politicians', and it should be there for you when you need it - like now.

Have you contacted the MS Society? They may be able to suggest areas of support and how to access them that you would never otherwise hear about. In addition, they will have a local group and support from people in the same boat as yourself may be just the thing that makes all the difference to managing whatever the MS throws at you.

The sugar cravings! Oh yes! I decided I was going to allow myself to replace the sugar I suddenly wasn't getting from the booze with chocoate and did that for months and months. It was lovely! Fortunately someone on this thread told me it was absolutely normal to have the cravings and why. I'd trained myself over the years not to eat sugary stuff so the cravings came as quite a shock. I know that if I allow myself to have chocolate in the house I'll still gorge on it, so I restrict it to high days and holidays now. (Decemeber is full of high days and holidays.)

It sounds as though your sleep patterns are improving, and I'm really glad you posted that. It's a totally unexpected bonus for me and I love going to bed earlier, switching the light out earlier than I've done for years and waking up early as a result. It feels like a lie in every day now. Lovely.

    16/31 please, Shaggy.

Thanks Honey Bear :) I like going to bed early now as well, and I've always liked the mornings, the sun rises outside my kitchen window.

Good idea about the MS Society. I had them bookmarked but not called them yet. There are no support things close enough to me but I'll call them anyway and see what they say. I do need to call them because I feel a bit in limbo with it, waiting for appointments. I don't have anything specific to ask though and don't want to waste their time :o

The assessment I had has found something for my mental health, but it's not in my area :( as in, it's so far away it would distress me to try and get there and cost a lot for regular visits as well. I've left it that they're going to look for something closer to me but I don't know if they'll find anything.

So the good news is also a sortof diagnosis for my head as well as the MS, but no treatment at the moment. I moved recently and had tried to move to a town where actually all the treatment is available, but I ended up in a very small place with nothing local. The MS treatment might be ok, but the mental health is looking difficult, and that gives me more bother than the MS at the moment.

I started to think earlier on I might as well go back to how I was, drinking for some kind of normality of an evening. Part of me says nooo keep going, but partof me is a bit lost and wants something familiar back again. I keep getting knocked back with things and it looks a bit hopeless.

Ah well, I'll think about it tomorrow. I know I don't want a horrible hangover so that should keep me in check.

I have managed a couple more AFDs though.

Hugs to satchmo and Dizzy as well, sorry to hear things are a bit rough and hope it all perks up for christmas :)

    13/17 AFD please shaggy :)

13/20 AFDs tonight. Not feeling well, so I'm snuggled up in bed and hoping I'm feeling ok for parkrun in the morning.

Hugs for anyone who needs them. I got a lovely Christmas car today from an elderly gentleman to thank me for a hug I gave him this week because he was feeling sad to be spending his first Christmas without his wife of 52 years who died in June. In it he said he didn't get many hugs now.
