I'm into bonus days on top of my target now and hoping I might get three in. Definitely no drinking planned for today.

I know a number of you listen to talk/music radio at night. I need a new clock radio but I want one that can be set to, say, one hour and turn itself off. I used to have one that could be permanently set to go off after an hour (or whatever) but the latest one had to be reset every time I turned it on which was fiddly, especially in the dark in the middle of the night. If anyone can follow my explanation are there any recommendations?

Excellent numbers, Maman and I hope you make your bonus days too.

As to clock radios, the one I started off with used to switch itself off after an hour and I got it from either Cu*ry$ or D!x0n$. It was mains/battery, and just AM/FM, not digital. I'm not sure how I would cope without Radio4 Extra any more. Good luck with the search.

Welcome Avogeek! Your relationship with booze sounds a bit like mine was. Recently I've realised that some of the physical symptoms I was suffering from (headaches, tiredness) weren't the booze at all but a reaction to something I was eating. I toyed with the idea of going to back to drinking and then I remembered that, actually, I gave it up because occasionally my behaviour when I was drunk was horrible. 18 months or so, I very rarely even think about booze any more, although I had a bit of a hankering for a G&T on Sunday evening for about five minutes. By Monday evening I'd forgotten completely to pour myself my usual booze substitute before I sat down to watch TV, so I can assure you it is worth knocking it on the head if you can, or cutting down if that would suit you better. (I can't; it's all or nothing with me.)

Welcome Robetrobo! Wow! Day 52 - good on you. Is this for keeps? It's good to have you with us, either way.

    24/30 please, Shaggy.

    And 31 for December, too.
    Better is good enough.

Right now I'm fine, I am every day up until about 4pm and then my mental battling starts - will I go to the shop, no I'm not drinking today, but maybe just one . . . . . . . . . and most days I give in. But not today!!

......and will even go to the gym later I think.

The famous wine o'clock!! I've been there! I think the positive is that it sounds just a habit you need to break rather than a dependence if you're not fussed about drinking through the day.

There are lots of ways you can go about that but distraction is an excellent idea, like going to the gym. When you get back you're closer to having an AFD and the later it gets the more determined you'll be not to write it off just for a drink later in the evening. To start with you'll e counting the hours to bed time but it does get easier, I promise!:)

  • Welcome to Avogeek and Robotrobo. Good luck!

1 more for me please Shaggy. I succumbed to all the wine o'clocks I was supposed to resist last week. Onward and upward. Have a good day everyone.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Have you tried looking on ebay for the one you like? It's amazing what you can find on there. I often replace things I love (mugs, plates, etc with the same used/vintage stuff from ebay)
