i'm in a quandry about tonight. Team drinks after work. I can just have a soft drink or leave early and nobody will care. But at least half of me doesn't want to do that. I'd like to keep catching AFDs and come home sober and early. I can resist anything except temptation.0

Downside - felt awful for 3 days so far
Upsides - weight loss and AFDs!
Everything has a silver lining!!!!What goes around comes around.....I hope!0 -

Morning all, 4/21 for me please.
Honey Bear, I haven't forgotten that you asked what brought on my sudden almost total lack of interest in alcohol and I'm still not sure, to be honest, but it dates from when I decided that I wasn't going to regularly drink wine at home because it seemed to me unhelpful that when I opened a bottle of wine I was committing myself to drinking the following night as well. So I decided to restrict any home drinking more or less to gin or other spirits. I do have bottles of wine stored at home and I did mean to drink maybe one per month or so, but just haven't done so and I haven't felt much inclination to drink anything else either. I can't help but think that decision was one of the keys.
The whole "middle-class drinking" thing that the newspapers are constantly going on about really only happened because drinking wine at home became the accepted thing to do (it seems to me). That's not to blame wine altogether - a century or so ago gin was seen as the main problem! But people can't drink an entire bottle of gin at home without seeing themselves as heavy drinkers, whereas an entire bottle of wine is seen as fine, and in fact once open the bottle of wine has to be "finished" or it will go off, whereas beer comes in smaller quantities and spirits can just go back on the shelf.0 -
Afternoon :hello:
2 more AFDs for Thursday and yesterday.

Please note if I'm not around much it's because I'm watching Wimbledon :-D SxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
