Afternoon :hello:
3 more AFDs for Wednesday, Thursday and yesterday.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

6/24 AFDs today0

Thank you Honey Bear, I'm starting to feel a little more like my old self, dare I say it. I had my second B12 injection today and have been taking the iron for 4 days too.
Pleased to report 8/25 tonight, and even more pleased to see I've got the hippy smileyI like to think I'm a bit of a hippy at heart!
I'm thinking I might have to change my user name as too many people are reading the 'twee' bit as 'wee' :rotfl: It's a silly reference to a Radiohead song that I've been using on and off since I was a teenager but it's been midread A LOT of times over the years!0 -
Honey_Bear wrote: »I think alcohol is a wierd one, to be honest. Why on earth does looking to the future without booze seem so frightening to all of us? When I stopped drinking I found the only way I could manage it without frightening myself into a thoughtplace where the future looked far too overwhelming to face, I decided that if I could have a good day without a drink today, that would be enough to keep me calm. If, I always said to myself, I really, really need a drink tomorrow to make life worth living, then, okay, I'll have one tomorrow. And then I'd let it go, because that was the decision made today about now.
I had to acknowledge that if I needed one tomorrow I thought that would make me a bit more reliant on it than I ever thought I would be, but, as I said, I'd deal with that the next day when the time came.
And, luckily for me, that day never came.
I think looking to the future and worrying about how we deal with it is understandable, but in this particular instance, talking about booze - it's counter-productive.
Just deal with today, and you'll be absolutely fine.
6/31 please, Shaggy.
Wow, I love this post. Really puts things in perspective. If you f*** up today, just start again tomorrow instead of just letting everything slide.
Think I will start copying and pasting quotes that I think will keep me going and reread them at future points.
I'm still not at a point where I want to give up altogether, but I just want to have a happy relationship with alcohol rather than a dependency on it.
I'm up to 5/12 already. Wahey!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I can't quote posts on my phone but very grateful for the words of encouragement.
Another work invite hit my
Mailbox today. It's one I can't get out of but would love to just come home after work and leave everyone to it.
I have never before questioned the alcohol culture at work, my parents think it's crazy as they (like you HB are NHS) and think it's appalling that your employer expects you to drink.
But, I had got used to it and it had become the norm.
I find it really interesting your friend was bored with her friends when she didn't drink. Annoyingly I think I have lots of relationships like this which is a bit worrying.
So one day at a time is best. My brain is running all over the place worrying about how I will cope out with work people but no alcohol. It's like it's trying to fit a square in a circle but I will try and find out if it can fit.
Tommorow alcohol free lunch then home in the evening. So should be easy to be alcohol free. Will see what comes up.
Thinking about researching with a book and reading up in cutting back.
I'm naturally shy and drink a lot at social gatherings because I feel out of my depth. This is the biggest issue for me because it's usually followed by embarrassing and regrettable actions and words.
If I could cut this out and drink sensibly I would but I still have not taught myself and learnt how to do this.
Sorry for long self-indulgent post. And thank you for all the help. xxx2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

5/17 for me please.
This thread is the place to be for me right now. Lots of inspiring and motivational posts. Plus it's making me think more about why I do things and how I can change them. I also wanting to follow others examples. Really helpful. Thanks.Live for the moment and plan for the future0 -

Am full of admiration for everyone who is doing so well here, some great achievements. Not just your 1000 day HB (though that is amazing) but all the others doing complete AF and high targets.
Have really slipped back myself. Got to 3 AF days in April, really ashamed as couldn't get a grip at all.
Only just managed 1 AF night last night, but feel I will manage another tonight.
Shaggy can I please set my target for 7 for this month and get gently back in again.0
