Roll up, Roll up. A New Month, A New Challenge.SET A26 days up for grabs!
Everyone Welcome!!!What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
i'm back after a massive fall from grace last night. This really has to stop. We are going to start trying for a baby soon. So, I am now going completely AF. That is IT!
Please put me down for 26/28 shaggy as I had 1 drink weds night (which was fine) and as drank stupid amounts last night (being sick this morning) I won't manage 28!I want to be a writer0 -
I had my first drink since new years eve last night. We went to a local diner/bar place and I had two glasses of red wine. I really enjoyed it.
However, I slept really badly last night! I never thought alcohol affected my sleep much before I did dry January, but after having slept really well for a month I now have something to compare it to! I've got a fuzzy head today too.
I'll be staying AF tonight, but will report in later to confirm. Saturday is a planned drinking day.0 -
I wish I had slept better in January. I had a spate of a few days where I slept better then it got worse again, no idea why. I've currently got some sort of cold/flu bug that has wiped me out and I slept a lot yesterday then couldn't sleep at all last night
It was disappointing for me that the lack o alcohol in January didn't help with weight loss or better sleep. I didn't have anything else to compensate like chocolate to eat or coffee/tea/ to drink, so I don't really understand it. And in fact since I was not drinking any rum & diet cokes, I also cut right back on my coke intake so therefore less caffeine. What goes around comes around.....I hope!0 -

Apologies, this is a bit long and boring,
2 days of work drinks both at lunch time. Low consumption and to be honest neither really enjoyed.
Alcohol is quite a strong feature of my work culture and can difficult to fight against. That's not to say that I couldn't try a lot harder.
Planning alcohol free today and low or no intake tommorow. I think I am out for lunch with parents and as part of trying to cut down I am looking at who I am drinking with, avoiding large work gangs and prioritising those closest to me so I may have one with with them and actually enjoy it.
Sorry for long post. I think for me alcohol is such a messy issue. I wouldn't want to give up for ever if I'm honest but I don't want it having such a strong hold on my life as it has in the past.
It's difficult to get people to understand that getting drunk isn't a priority. If you are single and live on your own people do not understand why you would decline invites. Sometimes I hope that nobody invites me anywhere. My mum says this isn't true but it honestly is.
The modern world expects your 24/7 availability for everything and not having any obvious responsibilities means a lot of pressure from all sides.
As ever massive thank you to everyone who posts and Shaggy for counting. This page is so helpful and something that I try and think about when I am in the pub and trying to make better choices.
With thanks.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

I can understand this. I don't want to give up either, but I'm sick of having to have alcohol as a 'consideration' when making plans, as I know I don't do well with hangovers and I have been battling anxiety. I know alcohol makes it worse. I have to make so many compromises in other areas of my life if the alcohol consumption goes up.
When I think about it this way, I feel like I OWE it to myself to cut down, and enjoy life more fully. I don't have any obvious responsibilities either... except the major responsibility of looking after ME! Nobody else is going to do that for me. If anybody comments on my lack of boozing, I'm the sort of person who says 'I don't really need to justify myself to anyone...'. I can appreciate not everyone is like that though, so if you want to pass on drinking or seeing people, maybe just say you're saving money for x, y and z, and leave it at that? After all, the people who pressure us to drink won't be there to take responsibility of the negatives that derive from it.
Dry January helped me learn to view boozing differently. I have taken ownership of it. No one else has the jurisdiction to decide on something which affects my life so acutely and in so many ways.
Now... having said all that, I wasn't AF last night  But I thought about it first, and decided to have one drink. Consumption stayed low and I consciously made the choice to limit it, so I'm OK with this as my overall goal is to lower my consumption so that it stops impacting other areas of my life.0
