I'm expecting a bit of a struggle tomorrow - Friday night and all that. Maybe I will get some a f wine. It's a bit sweet but I need to go into Tesco for goat's milk and it will give me an alternative plan to just white-knuckling it'...it is only kindness that makes sense anymore ' Naomi Shihab Nye0 -
2/TH for yesterday. My cousin had a baby girl, which ordinarily would've been a good excuse for a glass of something to toast her arrival, but no! I stayed strong. *smug smile*0

Sorry to butt in...this is a quick message for anyone who wants to stop drinking.
Ive been free of alcohol for a year and 3 months. I read Allen Carr's Easyway to control alcohol book in November 2015. For the next year, I no longer enjoyed drinking, but would have a couple of v&c's with my other half, which I didnt exactly enjoy, on a friday. Then OH read the book after this new year, and neither of us has touched a drop since, because no alcohol in the house.
I know I sound like an advert; but the book takes away the feeling of being deprived when you don't drink, it makes you feel glad to stop drinking, no willpower is needed, just the ability to read.
I cant recommend it enough. I went from drinking 4-5 days a week [where the non drinking days were a boring sad struggle] to just not even wanting a drink. No need for 'staying strong' or 'resisting temptation' because by the end you feel like you gained something, not lost something.
Please please, anyone who is willing to try, just buy the book, its only a few quid on amazon [same as a bottle of wine] and it turned my life around. I couldnt stop by myself before I read it. Dont try to analyze how it works and accept it for what it is.
I am aware that the method doesnt have 100% success rate but hey, worth a try.
Currently reading his stop smoking book as Im trying to stop vaping aswell.

I reckon anything that works for people should be mentioned on the thread. Nothing works for everyone as we all know to our cost, but for anyone reading through looking for ideas to help them cut down or give up, I would have thought your post would be very welcome, Beautiful Ravens. (And if I ever fall off the wagon it'll be the first thing I get to sort myself back out after such a heartfelt recommendation.) Well done to both of you for what you've achieved.
3/28 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning all, 2/21 for me please.0

Out of the starting blocks for February with 1/15.
I celebrated the end of my "postponed by 1 day" Dry January with rum & coke last night and it was nice, but I've been unwell so didn't feel like continuing. Shame to lose an AF day for one drink, but hey! Planning on drinking tonight but keeping it to a minimumWhat goes around comes around.....I hope!0 -
Morning :hello:
1 more AFD for yesterday.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Shaggydoo, re the yearly targets, if people think it's a good idea, I wonder if it might be useful to track how people are doing once a month at the end of the month? ... I find it useful to keep track of mine in my signature and that way have it constantly in front of me. It's just a thought, tell me to shut up if too much work. There's no need at the end of Jan anyway because the results are the same.
I will do that every monthNot much point at the end of Jan though, as you said
