It's lovely when you realise you're making progress, isn't it WBF.At this point I'm even contemplating making NYE an AFD too since I will be staying home that evening. There is a party I could go to but I have already said no since I am not good with big parties and I just don't want to traipse home through London in the wee hours of New Year's Day when it is always freezing cold and everyone is drunk. Is that bad of me? Hope not. I'd rather just have a quiet evening.
I loathe going out on New Year's Eve so if it's bad of you - let's be bad together. All that forced jollity drives me to distraction and the absolute worst part is that you have to stay until at least 12.30. There's no escape. I used to tell people that invited me that I'd love to come but I'd already said yes to someone else. Saved a lot of causing offence and people 'worrying' I'd be on my own - which I love.
Happy Christmas for those who won't be dropping in again until after the event.

Would it be possible at the end of the month for a year total AFDs?0

Totally agreed on all fronts, Honey Bear. There isn't any part of NYE I have ever really enjoyed - much prefer a quiet (and now increasingly likely to be alcohol-free) evening at home.

christmas is a lot of drinking pressure, it's only when I've tried to fight it that i realise how bad it is.
Resisted going out last night, much happier at home in the warm. Tonight is a bit harder. I want to go and drink coke but it's not always easy.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

Oh I meant to say nye always fills me with dread. I always lie about my plans and often am at my own flat at 9 and in bed by 11. This year I might see it out tho because I am completely glad to see the back of it.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

How true, PSL. When I was thinking about stopping the idea that I'd have to resist the temptation to drink over Christmas, weddings and for celebrations really held me back. Turns out, as long as you know exactly what you're going to drink and you like it that's non-alcoholic - it's really very simple, and it gets easier the longer it goes on. My B***s B**e is chilling already where we spend the latter part of Christmas day and we have our feast. OH and the friends we spend it with will all be very, very merry and I'll be stone cold sober and thankful for it.Poor_Single_lady wrote: »Oh I meant to say nye always fills me with dread. There are fireworks here at midnight (which I could do without because it sets the dog and cat off) and ship's horns going off at midnight which I rather like, so even if I go to bed early that wakes me up if I get an early night. I'm always just very, very thankful I can spend it on my own, while OH who loves it, spends it with his bestie in London and then stays up until his birthday a few days later. Gives me a chance to do stuff without someone constantly saying, 'What are you doing? Wouldn't it be better if ....' No.

Thanks Henry bear. I don't think people mean to put people under pressure or make things harder but they definitely do with the things they say.

Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

Hi all
I have been following this thread for several years now. I am always interested to see how you are all doing by either being alcohol free or going down the low alcohol route. Some of you I have noticed even if you declare an alcohol drinking day you still only have one glass or maybe two then stop which I think is excellent progress, really I do.
Anyway, I came on here to say Happy Christmas to you all and to keep up the good work and all the effort you guys & girls are putting in to help yourselves. Well done each and everyone of you.
I used to like the odd drink but now I can not drink at all through living on strong painkillers so wanted to say that I have found a really good whisky that is alcohol free, yes alcohol free whisky OMG!!!. Originally they charged a huge amount for shipping as they shipped from abroad so I didn't want to purchase any because it is quite expensive and with the shipping on top it was a really expensive purchase. Recently they introduced free delivery so YAY!!! I decided to take the plunge and purchase some. At £30 a litre it is not cheap by any means but I have to say it is really excellent. How this company have managed it I don't know. My husband loves the odd whisky or brandy in his coffee and he said he would not be able to tell the difference and that is coming from someone who does drink spirits. Well worth trying for those of you that are really struggling with your stop button. If you Google "Arkers UK" you will find them easily. I do hope that is some help to some of you. They make other drinks like cocktails etc. as well.
All the best to you all
