    Evening all.

Swerved to avoid the mulled wine on offer at Chester Zoo this evening and had a lovely cup of Earl Grey tea instead *polishes halo* :A

I'm up to now, which is less than I'd hoped for at this stage in the game, but I'm going to be amazing for the rest of the month...

Thanks for keeping tabs Shaggy and it's great to see the thread so busy this year! Well done us:jus
  • 7/10 AF days. Couldn't really drink last night as OH was having blood tests and had to fast from 8pm, felt bad for him and didn't even have any chocolates/Xmas goodies etc in sympathy! I am now sporting a good wife halo! :A

Annoyed with myself today, not because I feel unwell but will now struggle to achieve end of month target and also thought I had got better at this emotional response = alcohol. Clearly more practice required!

Old habits die very hard indeed when it comes to alcohol. The trick is to congratulate yourself on what you've achieved so far - 11 AF days in December is quite something - and to remember while doing so that the morning after the night before when revenge drinking happens is not a happy place for you. Sticking with the idea and the overall goal of cutting down is much, much more important than beating yourself up for one evening's lapse.

Missed the target but still trying.

The still trying is what it's all about, PSL and 16 AF days in December - an excellent achievement by the 21st, and you've still got the opportunity to rack up a few more between indulgences.

Woohoo! I love the way you just quietly get on with it, Barny.

    21/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

I'm hoping to attempt a December challenge of 20 AF days. I've done 10 so far. Going into the new year I'd like to think about targets for how much I'm drinking as well as reducing overall drinking occasions.

default_welcomespin.gif You're on the list! Good Luck!
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

We're really lucky in that there are two excellent charity shops within about 100 yards, one which takes every day things and one called Shabby Chic where they take posher stuff. I took my old school trunk there a couple of weeks ago and they're using it to display quilts and such, spilling out of it. Looks great, value zilch, because the locks are rusty and the leather straps are all rotten and broken. I also love the annual letter saying how much money they've made from our stuff and the Gift Aid amount they've been able to claim.

Just taken four bags of stuff to the CS. It's a great feeling - less clutter for me and a big thank you from them!

Well done on the kitchen cabinets - very impressed!

I haven't had a drink in 6 days having drank 6 days a week for the past ....? I don't know how long but a while. Having bouts of anxiety. Has anyone experienced similar. I am guessing it is the chemicals in my brain re-balancing hopefully.....

Hi dprovan - there is a really great website called Sober Recovery which has a great forum. Just goggle "Sober Recovery anxiety" and lots of threads will come up.

    Hope that helps.

Well done on the 7 days:T
