I just want to get to a place where a glass of wine is part of an occasional treat and socialising and not a daily solitary destructive habit.

Excellent aim, BTC. Way, way before we become addicted to alcohol it becomes a bit of a habit that then gathers momentum. If we can break the habit once we realise it's becoming a bit of a negative in our lives, enjoying it with friends from then on seems a lovely thing to share, as opposed to something that's become destructive. Every drink you don't have from here on in is a victory.
Yes we do feel compelled to stay up, but also in my job it is noted if I don't as I am deemed not to be a team player. What I really need to do is skip the alcohol, then I will have a better night's sleep even if it is a late one.

There are loads and loads of reasons not to drink booze, such as being on antibiotics (but that's not probably something most of us want to be telling our colleagues, is it?), wanting to keep a clear head, been on the sauce a bit too often and want to give my liver a bit of a rest, etc etc. Just being seen to be enjoying yourself with something that looks sociallly acceptable is a good place to start. If you buy your own drinks, who's to know if that tonic and ice has a gin in it? Who's to know if that's an AF beer? I wouldn't have a shred of conscience if I misled people who thought I should be drinking booze and was expected to do so because it's connected with working. That's just bullying behaviour imho, and there's something deeply wrong with the workplace culture.

    24/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

Are you deserting us in November then wbf?:rotfl:

I'll have my usual target please Shaggy.:)

I agree HB there are lots of ways to pass off not drinking if necessary. The trouble is (especially when it's a customer/client) is that it's hard not to imply criticism of their drinking habits. I've usually said 'empty calories' (which is true) but you could hardly say that to an overlarge customer;).

    No drinking here today.

    13 AFDs please Shaggy.

ooh, ooh...got another four AFDs to report up to and including tonight. Takes me to 20/25 I think?

I can only drop one day if I want to hit target this month and it's half-term to add more stress into the mix. Wish me luck!

Can I set 25 for November please Shaggy x
