    11/10 please Shaggy

Out tonight to a burger and craft beer place, but I didn't fancy alcohol so had a soft drink. Jogged home instead of waiting for the bus as well.

Home on a big fat fail tonight - unexpected 30th for a much younger friend- and failed daily over these last few days - no single reason, just mum is gradually getting less well and work is more and more full on and August is a hellish month because the unhappy customers have nothing else on and the other staff are on their - well deserved - holidays. I am really really unhappy about the number of people who think they can tear me to pieces because I work for a council. They think because they pay my wages they can demand instant solutions to all their problems and tear me apart if I don't deliver. Well they pay the wages for the t*sco the sainsbobs the barcl*ys, the talk talk, and name your railway/bus provider too. And all the rest. It's just paying council tax makes people think they can spend their free time attacking me and the people I work with. We are doing our best folks. Because we are good people who take pay cuts and work more than our contract hours unpaid because we want to make other people's lives better. We don't just work for the pay. Laugh away if you don't believe it. Says more about you than us. Can I be the do as I say not as I do mascot on here when it comes to targets, perhaps. On the bright side I realise other people being aggressive to me doesn't help me get an AFD. So I have insight
    Bit cross,sorry x

Or I could decide all that is no reason to pour a glass of wine. More insight but still cross, angry even. I am really feeling the hate now, people are definitely lashing out more this summer. I really hope it settles down soon because daily aggression is really wearing us down now.

Oh Dansmum, that sounds like a real longstanding pent up venting - your yesterday must have been horrendous. (((Hugs))) and a:coffee:cup of tea for you. I wish I could make you one in real life. Having managed an NHS complaints department I can feel your pain, too. The one thing guaranteed to make me what to slam the phone down was people saying they paid my wages. It didn't make me feel any better knowing they were worried, frightened, angry about things being totally out of their control, either, it just brought out the worst in me instead of increasing my motivation to help them. I wonder, sometimes, if all of the programmes on TV showing people venting their rage on staff who are often powerless to change things encourage people to behave like that rather than showing them up for being the inadequate bullying pillocks that they are. More (((hugs))) and another :coffee: with the hope that today treats you better.

    18/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

Feel free to vent dansman and I'll willingly join you if there's room on that particular soapbox. It makes me furious that Local Authority budgets have been decimated and hugely difficult choices have to be made along with the ongoing pay freeze for public service workers. Your customers are railing against the people like you in the front line when it's not you that has made the decision to slash the budgets or change national policy. Similarly I have sympathy for the frontline workers in service industries who are often being paid a pittance on dodgy contracts while the Chief Executives laugh all the way to the bank. Grr!!

That being said, I find that being in control of my drinking helps me hugely to cope with the things I can't control. Maybe that reasoning would work for you?

No plans to drink here today.

    11 AFDs please Shaggy.

Dansmam - sorry to hear the general public are being horrid. Public workers do get the brunt of people's frustrations when things go wrong for them, or they don't get the answers/responses they want to hear, which isn't fair, so fat rude raspberries to them from me. Next time you get one on the phone just think of me prancing around in my slippers with bells on the toes pulling a silly face and blowing raspberries. Should make you laugh :rotfl:

We are on our return journey from Legoland, stuck in yet another traffic jam, so adding a day to my less than perfect total. Makes 14/31, I think?
