I must admit I have 4 holes in one ear, 3 in the other and I never wear earrings! Ha ha!
Nomination bracelets are good for tiny handsand Etsy is totally awesome (I have a shop on there and all my sales money seems to go to other sellers somehow

I wanted a silver engagement ring as I don't really wear gold, silver is more 'arty' for me
However, after talking to a view designers it transpired that for my active tomboy lifestyle, silver is too soft and would get wrecked too easily
:o
So I thought it would have to be platinum, but palladium was suggested which I hadn't really heard of. It's meant to be rarer than platinum but not so 'vogue' - perfect for me since I don't gravitate to the norm or average :rotfl: The designer I eventually picked was the cheapest for our design of a wave with 4 stones depicting our rowing club colours, and it's absolutely perfect for me as it's not overly blingy and doesn't protrude like most engagement rings - arrgg that would be a nightmare!!!
As for wedding rings, well we haven't got that far, I guess I would have to go back to the same designer to match what I have, and fiance needs titanium as he's allergic to most metalsHonorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. My rings are 18ct white gold - DH had bought the engagement ring in that metal, and after researching - we found I should get my wedding ring in the same metal so one won't wear down the other.
His wedding ring is in palladium - he really liked titanium (lightness and cost) but was wary about it not being able to be resized at all should it be slightly wrong. Palladium you can resize a small amount. We bought and had them engraved with matching designs in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Different metals, but they look just the same.
Mine got scratched up by the sand on honeymoon too!I don't mind too much, it reminds me of the fab day we had being tumbled about by the waves :rotfl:

On honeymoon, I grabbed hold of a granite rock on a lazy river, so I could look at a commerson's dolphin. That was best part of 3 years ago - and you can still see the scuff on my (then) shiney new ring0 -
I'm probably going to get the ring from etsy... there's some wonderful ones on there.
I got my ring from etsy - it came today and is the wrong colour! I would whole heartedly recommend the seller though. The actual ring is just stunning and Iit (just not the colour!). Waiting to hear back but hopefully swapping it won't be too painful.

My engagement and wedding ring are silver and I really love them. I'm not particularly drawn to gold and I have never liked diamonds. I didn't want something very expensive and love the work of individual local designers who tend to work more in silver.
Someone earlier in the thread described silver as arty, and I supposed that does describe how I feel about it.
Fell in love with my engagement ring so bought a simple silver band to complement it from the same designer.
Having never been a great jewellery person, they give me great pleasure 2 years on putting them on every morning.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

We're getting my engagement ring made in silver, with a peridot as the gem. Can't understand the fascination with diamonds, and hated every 'engagement' ring I looked at! Jeweller was quite worried about making an engagement ring in silver because of teh wear, but I'm not intending to wear it for the rest of my life, only until the wedding! Not a big ring wearer normally (special occasions only!), so seems bonkers to waste money on something I won't wear for long. I love the design of it though, so will wear it on the other hand when I want to be pretty and girly!0

mine was my grandmothers ring - it is 9ct gold - she was heartbroken when it had to be cut off 48 hours before she died. she wore it for nearly 50 years and i have worn it on my right hand for almost 20 years (after having it repaired). i will transfer it to my left hand when i marry this year. it is not a money saving decision this ring means more to me than a new ring ever could - my mum got all emotional when i told her of my ring plans.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
