Just come home to a letter from the blood donation people. I gave blood at the end of November and there's something "unusual" about it. They want me in for another test. Great :( Will ring tomorrow and get an appointment asap. Anyone else had this and it turned out to be nothing serious?!

    Yes, I was mildly anaemic and had to take iron tablets for a while. Yours could be as simple as that so try not to worry.

    Thanks for that. S0ds law, I quit smoking 8 months ago and never had a problem before!! We will see... I'm just a bit worried because the letter says I have to go to one of their clinics or they can send me a "kit" to go to a local hospital or GP!?

    If it'd been something awful your blood would have been screened out very quickly and you'd have been phoned long before now. Try not to panic too much :p

    That will just be a form with your details on and the type of tests that need to be done by the lab on your blood sample, don't panic!

    My dad is the rarest blood group but I've given blood several times before and I know I'm not. But thanks

    I had this once and it was nothing, they said sometimes it's just the tests they do can have an unexpected reaction, so they have to double check. It might not be anything to do with you but just their tests!

    I've had these before, with anemia. Took the stuff to my GP who said that the anemia was borderline, I didn't need treatment for it and that I should stop giving blood!
