Feeling really irresponsible

I've had a few goes with the various pets over the years.
The worst one was when I flung a cat over in free air to bounce off a wall. I used to sleep in a single bed at home next to the radiator, which was under the very old windows. Summer, so i had the top left window opened, tiny window, was the only one that opened in them all. Cat would jump from ground floor, upto the garden (which was on level with the top of ground floor) onto the shed and launch herself over onto my window sill, quick jump up and through and down and she'd be inside. I think one night she misjudged the jump inside ad landed on me instead. I did that primal woken up from a deep sleep scream/moan and instinctively threw her across the room. Felt so terrible for days. One other cat did it, landed on my face, which didn't get launched that time as I was clutching a large scratch across my eyelid.

Various times of tails getting in the way, paws being walked on.

We also had a cat who lost half his tail whilst he happily slept on a compost heap, next to separating fence of our neighbours. They had a really dangerous shed/greenhouse that basically shed a sheet of glass off the roof angle, came straight off quickly, and chopped half this poor cats tail off. No one knew to begin with, as the cat came in missing half a tail, and of course was rushed off to the vet, once things calmed down, it was discovered on the compost heap along with the glass. Wasn't our fault, but we were so angry with our neighbours. They were nutters!
In another cat tale (but not tail thankfully!) with them, another of our cats fell through their decrepit garage roof, and broke her leg. Couldn't get out, we could hear her and were so upset, but they wouldn't let us in, or go in to get her. Called the police eventually, who came around, gained entry and rescued our cat. Turns out the mad people were storing open barrels of oil, and petrol and other end of world typed stuff in there, and were told off of that, made to get rid of it, and fix the garage properly.
That cat had a strange penchant of breaking the same leg, a lot of times. aside the garage, we never knew how she did it (vet said her bones were fine), so she'd often end up at the vet in a leg plaster. But each time she had it, we'd have to go back several times as she frequently got them off. We'd be looking around the garden and fit cat leg pots randomly in places which made no sense to be!

I still think animals are the most forgiveable around. The number of times I do things to my poor thing, and he still loves me!

Our cats frequently get shut in the garage, they insist on sneaking through when I take the laundry out and tend to get shut in until we go to collect the laundry again.

In the summer they use the back window in the dining room for coming in and out of the house, rather than the open back door. One day as it was getting dark, we closed the window, then went to the back door to call the cats in. One of them wouldn't come willingly so I had to go out and fetch her. Once indoor and with the back door shut, she thought she was cleverer than me and made a full pelt run at the dining room window. She launched herself at it and there was a thump and some frenzied clawing as she realised it was now closed. I must admit that I laughed pretty hard at that one!
If it doesn’t move, and it should, use WD-40. If it moves, and it shouldn’t, use duct tape!
  • My elderly gent (kitty) Ollie is forever under my feet and I hate it, my ballance isn't great at the best of times.
Last year he decided to mither around my feet, and tripped me up. In the process of gaining my ballance again, I stood on his tail sending him running forewards, then ping-ponging back and forth three or four times untill I threw myselfout of the way landing on my face. Ollie flew forewards, climbed my OH's leg and dug claws into his chest, mewling pittifully as if saying "she tried to kill me dad!"
Made me feel so bad, but daft mog still goes under my feet.... tut

My rats are really daft, when the cat goes out during the day, it is rats coming out time. I opened the door, and forgot I had let them out (about 1 hour later, they get free roam of the flat for about 3 hours a day) when a man had come round to fix the sink.
Forgot the rats were out, and heard a scream from the kitchen. Ran in to see the repair man surrounded by 9 very curious rats.
    whoops

I have punted a cat off the bed. Sudden leg cramp and i reacted by a sharp fast leg extension. Not realising the poor puss was curled up at the bottom of the bed.

I actually launched him. he got full on air time.

    :)

Hubby has done this on numerous times to our Tikka, I'm surprised she still sleeps next to his feet!

I've also shut in cats under the stairs and spare bedroom frequently in a morning not realising until almost bedtime when I suddenly think "I've not seen xx tonight"

Have also shut outside when I've gone to work, including in the rain, on occasions not realising the cat flap is still locked from the night before as I've let them out through the door.

Have trodden on them frequently when they do that "getting under the feet thing" they do when they want feeding but I'm doing something else.

Do you feel less guilty now?;)

Oh and once my dad "lost" our dog whilst out on a walk when a cyclist scared it. He spent 3 hours trudging up and down the canal and fields before returning home preparing to tell us he'd lost our dog once we got home from school only to find the dog sat on the front doorstep. The neighbour across the road said he'd been sat there almost 3 hours!
  • Yep, the old fella got locked out once. Had seen him come in and eat his dinner, but hadn't seen him go out again. Shut the window. 2 hours later I wondered where he was, couldn't find him in the flat, and opened the window just incase... and a very soggy moggie came shooting in.
He was not impressed with me to say the least.

He also has a thing about sleeping up against me at night, not a good thing to do as I toss and turn at night. Quite a few times he has got squashed as I roll over, only to wake up as I get a set of claws in the stomach/leg/boob.... roll over in a fluster to then have a very disgruntled moggie zoom out from under me....

ratties also swarm me when I open the cage door, and on occasions when they are being unruly (some are going through the terrible teens) when I close the door toes get in the way at the last moment.... makes me cry every time

    I've been Money Tipped!
Our dog was a hyper bundle of energy when we first got him. He's a large cavilier king charles.

He was leaping around the kitchen like a mad thing one night while my partner was cooking dinner. Max bounced up against Bobs leg while he was straining peas - and got a big splash of boiling water on his side near his hip. Catching a poor scaulded dog so we could put a cold wet towel on him and get him to vets was horrible. He wanted nowhere near us and just looked so upset. He has a bald scar now, the size of a 50p. It happened 4 years ago and we still feel bad. :(
