Expensive mistake in allowing a child unsupervised access to a contract phone, but be glad it was only £400. If the phone had been lost or stolen, and she didn't report it straightaway it could have been £thousands.

Children are way too young to be allowed to use contract phones. That is why children are not allowed phone contracts. The reality is that it is your contract phone and you have allowed a child to play with it. Is that being responsible?

To be fair, the OP thought they had bought an unlimited minutes contract (although that would still have allowed daughter to ring premium and other chargeable numbers).

TESCO offer capped contracts, but OP still has to deal with the fact that the contract they have entered into will have its minimum term to run, so there will need to be some decisions made about how to manage that.

Good advice given about future contracts, but some thought needs to be given as how to handle the next 2 years.
