So you've both missed the inconsitency in my earlier post (which admitedly I did too)
The poster in this thread referred to an incorrect cheque number
The other thread refers to an inconsistent account number (although those who can say for certain say it is the 8 digit number). But a 7 digit number (i.e. missing a leading zero) should equally be acceptable.
Of course if anyone really also had a cheque with a 6 digit account number (i.e. with both the leading zero and the zero between the 2 and the 6 missing) that would cause the cheque to bounce. (but probably not rejected by the staff at paying in time - if a 7 digit account number is accepted, then probably a 6 digit one would be too)
The other thread suggests that two of the digits were transposed in some of the cheques. However, all I know is the account number written on my cheque (8 digits with one leading zero), which resolves to a valid account number, whereas the proposed account number with two leading zeros does not. It would be nice to confirm the account number of the invalid cheques.
Edit: It's now starting to look like it is the cheque sequence number that's the problem after all.0 -
I cashed their cheque at the bank on the 15th of March. The bank told me it was classed as unpaid on Thursday. This means Aqua have no money in their account to pay me the £100. The cheque is in the post is one of the oldest lies of a business in financial difficulty.
I'm currently pressuring them to send me a direct bank transfer as they have already sent me £20 due to consistent promises of the cheque being in the post, being consistently broken.
I'm going to track down the head office number tomorrow and get their accounts department to pay me the money directly as I have no faith in the supervisor I spoke to in resolving the issue.
I'll let you know how I get along.
Smell you later.0 -

Shouldn't you be contacting the administrators?
Let us know who they are please :cool:0 -
My statement date was 13th March and my account is still £100 in credit.
They have until 31st March to get the cheque to me before I contact them. They won't like it if I contact them, trust me....I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
I'm still waiting for my £100 cashback cheque to arrive. Spoke to them three times since mid February and each time they say "the cashback cheques will be sent out in the next two weeks". Latest I was told was that everybody will have received their cheque by 31st March. According to Aqua the delays have been because they were allowing more time for people to return their credit card agreements accepting the reduced cashback - lol.
I have complained vociferously and consequently received a £15 "goodwill payment" from them but they say they can do nothing further and I just have to be patient! Rather worrying to read from barbil that receipt of the cheque is still no guarantee of payment - it may be rejected by the bank!Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

Got the direct bank transfer today. Yesterday I got a letter from NatWest apologising for not cashing the cheque and vaguely saying they may do so in the future. No real explanation as to why not though.0

No bank transfer here
Wrote a letter of complaint last week asking for the money and now have an initial response. They are "gathering information and documentation relevant to your complaint"
They only need to look at the last statement!
Seems like they are going to take up to 8 weeks to respond more fully if at all. Still at least the clock has now started. If I don't get the money within 8 weeks, I'm off to the FOS.
Although I never told them this, it seems from the tone of their response that is what they are expecting anyway.0 -
Quick update:
Cheque arrived this morning from Aqua0
