We're getting married 31st May and haven't booked anything yet, we're thinking of going to the estate agents the day after and asking where we can go... bit of a surprise!

I also live in Edinburgh so can safely say you'll really enjoy yourself! :)

bless you sweetie...but the travel agents might be a better option than the estate agents....unless you can find a late rental booking.
Where ever you end up im sure it will be a good one!

  • We're having to rethink our honeymoon completely as we changed the date of our wedding and now can't get flights to mexico after the wedding so we are looking to do somewhere for a week or 10 days after the wedding and having the proper honeymoon when we can get a flight to mexico. Anyone got any ideas for where we could go for the first honeymoon? We haven't got a clue lolxxx

  • When are you getting married junstengaged? Would you like to honeymoon straight away?

There are many wonderful places in the UK, I wouldn't bother what other people think, they aren't going. It should be about you & your OH & what you want.

We are going to go to Sorrento and visit Pompeii and Rome :)
We have never travelled abroad together before so it will be quite an adventure!
We have not booked it yet and we get married in June, the travel agent Thompson price is around £1600 inc evening meal (£3.3k for 1 wedding day and only £1.6k for a whole week in Italy!). If we DIY the honeymoon it is £1000 so we are not quite sure what to do as we want to eat our sometimes. We were thinking that if we learn a respectable amount of Itallian in a month then we will 'wing it' ourselves.

We've gone for a week in Dubrovnik where we've booked an apartment (we greatly prefer catering for ourselves whenever we go away). We would have loved to go for the Maldives, but it just wasn't sensible with the budget we had.

Have you considered travelling by rail? You haven't mentioned a budget, but you can get the orient express from london to italy and while it takes a fair while, its a part of the holiday in itself rather than just being a journey.
  • We went to Sorrento for ours I'm not a big fan of flying either so pretty much crossed out all the exotic locations!
A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j

  • We have been really spoilt. We booked the Maldives. :) My OH told me today that he has upgraded our room! I am so very very spoilt.

    Happy honeymoon hunting all.
Due to get married in 2014. :grinheart

    .

It'll be beginning of July, getting married on 4th which is a Friday, so luckily 1st day of holiday will be Sat, which most places you go start their holiday week on.

I reaaaally want somewhere Sunny and exotic, so might do a 3 day weekend in Edinburgh as getting so much good feedback on it, but the warm weather and poolside of Europe is calling :D

If I could go anywhere it'd be somewhere like the Maldives, or Carribean, that'd be amazing, but unfortunately not an option. South of France seems nice though, and looks like you can go Eurostar to Avignon, not sure if you can get your car on it for that far out or if you can only get to Paris with your car via Eurostar.
  • I live in the middle east and I'm travelling back home to Ireland to get married, coming back, dropping off our wedding stuff at our house and then heading to the maldives!! When you are over this far, its not too big of a deal to go the extra flight to the maldives. I think I am more excited by the prospect of our honeymoon than our wedding at this stage!!
