Morning,
Sorry to hear you didn't get the job, maybe there's a better job round the corner that will work out better for you. I am a great believer in fate. Keep smiling. xx
Fab that you got a free trip to the cinema and well done for going prepared with the Wilko Choccies. I went to the cinema last week (empty handed), but I must admit, it felt abit lacking to not be munching something nice while I watched the film. Will definitely buy some cheap treats for next time. x
Do you know how much longer you have to wait for the credit card transfers to happen? Fingers crossed its soon. xx0 -

Hi Steph, thanks for stopping by! Always makes me feel a bit better if someone's popped in to comment on my ramblings!
I've just logged into MyBarclaycard account, the transfer is showing in there on my recent transactions and has been taken off my balance, but still says pending. I haven't got my stupid HSBC secure key dongle thing with me (at work!) so either I'll wait until I get home and log into to internet banking to check what my balance is there or I may pop into the branch at lunch time to see. Fingers crossed it will have completed, at least by the end of the week. If it's still pending by Friday I'll have to cough up £100 out of my allocated budget to pay HSBC since it's due before the 2nd. I'm nervous about that happening, I really don't want to because it is totally just throwing £100 away which is a LOT of money to me!
I've put some direct debits through on YNAB this morning, so I feel like I've done *something*. As usual my mobile phone bill is in the red. I have NO idea why but every month my bill from EE is so many pence over what it should be - 88p this month. It's such a nominal amount that I don't bother querying it, but it's just annoyoing. I should really budget an extra £1 or so in that category just so I don't have to see it go into the red! Can't wait until May when the stupid contract expires though. So stupid to be paying £32 a month (it was £42 to begin with!!) As soon as the contract runs out I'll be getting a Sim only deal for sub-£10.
The second half of the year I will be a lot better off than I am now. For starters the tax bracket goes up a bit in April, so that should see me an extra £15-£20 in the pay check (always nice!). By May I'll be saving over £20 a month on mobile phone, and May/June will be the last payment for my Halifax CC so that'll be an extra £40 a month too - all money that can go towards the overdraft. Really looking forward to it. If I can get totally out of the overdraft by the end of the year that would be fantastic.
I can't even remember the last time I didn't see that evil "OD" at the side of my balance in my bank account. I first went into my overdraft at the end of my first year as a student (paying for flights for a holiday to Tenerife...) and its seldom been out since. That was 2007. Shocking really.
I was going to say I'm aiming for a NSD today, but I've just realised I need to get some milk on the way home so that's out of the window! It will ONLY be milk though!!0 -
I nipped into HSBC at lunch time and to check my accounts - the balance transfer must have gone through because now my credit card balance is £0.01! :j
SO happy I'm not going to have to make a payment into here now (well besides 1p!) and then I can close the card completely. From here on everything I pay will be towards the balance, no more interest. I think I'll make a payment to Barclaycard when I go home and can finally see those numbers start to go down!0 -
Hiya
How was the cinema? Did you see anything good? Also, have you heard about the job yet? And finally, did you call Sky back!?

Hi hun
The cinema was good thanks. We saw a film called "Only Lovers Left Alive". Great little film, a little sidestep from mainstream Hollywood but that's the kind of thing I like having a film degree!
I didn't call Sky back- haven't really had a chance yetI don't know if I can be bothered now really - I know I should but I hate phone calls at the best of times! Maybe I'll just email them.
I didn't get the job. I got good feedback though, but someone with more experience took the role. It'd have been nice to get it but I'm not too disappointed.
Hope you're ok! x0 -
Morning all
My DD for the Halifax card came out today so that's another £40 off my total.. a whole 2% paid off now, ha! Need to make my first payment to my new shiny Barclaycard though, that'll raise the total to 5%. :j
Also sold another item on ebay last night, that's another £8 or so after fees. Got about £80 in Paypal now. Not sure whether to leave it in there for a while (I have a Paypal Mastercard so I can access paypal money just like any other debit bank account) or to transfer it into my bank account to pay off overdraft - I should use it for the overdraft.
Hope everyone's having a good day x0 -
Hey hon
Sorry to hear about the job but the good feedback is great and will be helpful for when you apply for the better job you deserve!
Great to hear that the CC has all sorted out though, a huge weight off your mind I'm sure. Although why did they leave a penny!? Make sure they don't charge you interest on that haha!
I'd use the £80 paypal money to pay off your overdraft and reduce that. Saves on interest.

I've had a very productive night, finance wise!
I've just called HSBC and my card is now cancelled :j I may get a final bill through the post if anything is outstanding - hopefully they shouldn't be but I wonder if they'll let me off with the penny? :rotfl: I think it's my fault there is a penny left, I felt a bit silly asking for such a specific amount when I set the transfer up with Barclaycard on the phone!
I've also gone payment mad tonight:
£100 to Barclaycard (CC1)
Another £60 to Halifax (CC2)
Transferred £50 from PayPal, then paid this towards the overdraft.
I thought since it's the end of the month it would be nice to do a little summary of everything I've paid off this month so I can see my progress month to month.
January
Mastercard
starting: £3,872
closing: £3,772
£100 paid
Halifax CC
starting: £269
closing: £169
£100 paid
Overdraft
starting: £1,500
closing: £1,378
£122 paid
TOTAL: £322 paid
5.7%
£5,319 remaining
:j
I'm very pleased and quite proud of myself for managing to pay off over £300 in what should have been the tightest month of the year straight after christmas. However I've now set quite a high benchmark that I need to try and beat every other month! :rotfl:0 -
I got £5 credited to my PayPal yesterday from MySurvey, and I've also just started with Lionbridge. I still know next to nothing about it, but I think I made £4.50 last night from about 30 minutes' work so it could be good. Hopefully I'll get my head around it soon! I also think I have another £7 or so from my last ebay sale to add to my £2014 in 2014 total but I can't remember if it's already been added on! :S
Hurray for Friday! xx0 -
Morning!
Well done for paying off so much money, that's awesome and you deserve a pat on the back (sending one through here!).
Love the summary that you've done and I'm so going to steal it and do it myself.
