Hi
Thats naughty of BG not to at least send you a letter warning you.
Well done on your budgeting, just proves what you are doing is working and you should stick with it. I have been like you, where even the smallest over-spend would send my bank account into meltdown.
I am not quite there yet, but I feel alot more under control.
Keep going xxxx0 -
Thanks for the support, Steph
Same here - I have such a long way to go, but I finally feel in control of my finances for the first time. I've spent far too long with my head in the sand!
I've just cashed out my first £5 into PayPal from MySurvey :j No idea how long it takes to get to my account though. I nearly have enough for another £5 too. Every little helps!0 -
I've added my debts to my signature so I can always see where I'm at and chart my progress. No point in hiding it here...
Listed a few more things on eBay tonight whilst I'm on the laptop. I think I may need to be a bit brutal and go through the PS3 collection tomorrow.. maybe0 -
Morning,
Well done with the survey money, you are flying .
I also like to have my financial situation in my signature. I do worry about who see's it sometimes, but it is such a nice feeling to see the numbers going down (mine haven't much yet). It keeps you going. xx
You mentioning PS3 games, got me thinking about the bulk load of Skylanders that we have here. I can't remember the last time either of my children ever played that game. Think I will look on Ebay today to see how much they go for. If its a decent amount then I might sell them. Got got to be careful as I know children have phases. I have sold things too soon in the past and regretted it.
We have also got a lot of Wii games that don't get played, I might sit down and look through them to see which we just haven't played in ages.
Thanks for the idea, hope you have a good day. xxx0 -
Skylanders do sell for a fair bit! Me and my boyfriend started playing it recently (sad I know- we are such children!
) and he bought a bundle of I think 20 figures for something like £60. That was a buy it now, some of the auctions go higher, and some particular figures on their own do go for a fair bit - so its worth checking... as long as the kids aren't bothered any more, don't get yourself in trouble with them!
Keep your chin up - no matter your figures haven't gone down much yet. Every penny is progress and in a few months when you look back you'll see just how far you've got!0 -
Morning all
I'm feeling a bit under the weather today. Thankfully not finances getting me down, but some family stuff and I've been feeling a bit run down with sore throat/ears for a few days that doesn't seem to be shifting.
The diet has gone back out of the window this morning too. Along with feeling run down I've said to hell with it and have been helping myself to the chocolates that appeared on the front desk at work. One of my colleagues also brought some buns in so i've of course had one of thoseI had a banana and orange too so that balance it out, right.... right?!
I've listed a couple more things on ebay (on Buy It Now rather than auction though) and need to find more things to list. Yesterday I signed up to a few more survey sites so hopefully they'll bring in a few more pennies.
I need to go through YNAB and assign some of my leftover wage this month to pay off a bit of the OD, so I can update my signature. I'll do that tonight since tomorrow is payday then its a fresh start with a fresh budget :j
I've been t hinking about when I'd like to be debt free by. Of course the sooner the better! Realistically, my DFD is Dec 2015, but I'd like it sooner than that. I suppose it's down to how much extra money I can raise. If i could manage it by the end of this year it would be amazing.
I'd like to move in with my boyfriend at some point in the near future, I'd like to think this year. It'd be nice not to have any debts before that happens but I doubt that will be possibleI haven't talked to him much about my financial situation so would rather it be sorted before it becomes an issue but we'll see..
Anyway, sorry for being on a downer today, I'll try cheer myself up and kick myself up the bum..0 -
Evening all
Well, something good happened this afternoon - I've got an interview tomorrow for a new job! Eek. It's in the same company, just a different department and a different role. I'm not sure what the pay is but it should be a bit better than what I'm on now so fingers crossed...
Tomorrow is pay day - I've just realised that it's probably the first time when I'm not "desperate" for pay day to come around. I'm looking forward to being paid solely because I'm looking forward to budgeting it in YNAB! What a saddoIt is a nice feeling though, when you hear colleagues talking about how they can't do X or Y until payday because they've got nothing left, and I can just sit there smugly thinking to myself "well I've still got _ left in my account!"
I've paid off some of my overdraft tonight - £72... 1.2% of my overall debt gone! Well I say "paid off" - I transferred money from my working budget to my overdraft account within YNAB, but it's the same thing - its now considered untouchable.
I've also got about £80 still in my account sat in various categories - so technically my OD is being reduced even more, but I'm not classing this as OD payments since it's money I can use if/when I need to.
I was hoping my 0% credit card would have arrived today, but nope. Hopefully tomorrow. I'm a bit concerned its the wrong time of the month though, since I'm going to have to make a payment on the current card soon. I don't want to have to since now I feel like it's "wasting" money since it'll be 0% very soon, but obviously I don't want to miss a payment. I'll just see when the card does arrive.
Have a good evening guys x0 -
Hey hon
Great news about the job interview - good luck, although I'm sure you'll ace it!
I hadn't heard about mysurvey til I read it on here so will have a look at that tonight. I've been doing some on Populisive but it's £50 before you can withdraw cash & I've also been doing nectar-canvass to build up the points for my Christmas food shop, oh and the adpoints thing!
I love the idea of having a DFD date so will have to think of one. I've learnt a lot from reading your thread so big thank you!
It's also really great that you were able to pay money off your overdraft the day before payday, not often people can say that!
Have a great evening(and enjoy those chocolates!)

Thanks for finding me!Ah, I'm glad reading my ramblings has been somewhat useful to at least one person! I'm just starting out, I'm sure there's much, much more useful threads on here- but I'm trying and learning!
Thank you for the luck for the interview - I'll need it! x0 -
Morning,
Hope you got on well at the interview, figuring by the time you read this it will be all over.
I feel the same about the YNAB budget. It is already the third time I have logged into my online banking just to hope a direct debit has gone out so I can log it into YNAB.
Well done on paying off abit to your overdraft and still having some left over for extras.
Feels good to be on top of it all. xxx0
