Happy weekend everyone! :j
I had my interview this afternoon - I survived but it could have gone better (though it could have gone a lot worse too). I'll find out Monday or Tuesday. I'm not expecting to get it - but after having the interview and learning more about the job, I really want it!
Glad it's the weekend - nothing planned but time with the OH is always good.
Earned £3 from a Pinecone survey this afternoon so I've added that onto my totals for the month!
I shall update after the weekend - have a good one all0 -
I've managed to earn another £5 on MySurvey this afternoon - that's £10 this week, and not far off another £5 too! It's been very good lately with giving me lots of surveys I can do.
GlobalTestMarket on the other hand, has been absolutely crap. I've got enough credit for £10 paypal cash out but you need to have 1000 points before you can cash out for the first time ?! I'm only about half way there. At least the last 15 surveys its given me I've been screened out of - some of them I've filled in about half the survey before it's screened me out which is VERY annoying!
Anyway- we've done the weekly shop in Aldi today. I spent £33, which is just a little overbudget, but I did indulge a bit in a gingerbread house (£2!! reduced from £7 or so from before christmas) and the ingredients to make some pina coladas.. yummy! So £33 for a week's worth of groceries, and a bottle of coconut rum - can't go wrong really!
Other than that - my Barclaycard arrived today so I need to activate that and do the balance transfer. Bit concerned that nowhere in the letter does it mention the 0% balance transfers- but it doesn't say anything about any rates anyway - so I'll have to check on the phone when I activate it.
Have a good Saturday evening everyone xx0 -
Sounds like you're getting there with the debt busting, after a troublesome week. Go you!
Love the adding the percentage of debt paid off in your sig! I think I'm going to steal that. Definitely motivation.0 -

Thanks LouiseI can't take full credit for the percentage paid off in my sig - seen some others on here with it - but it definitely is good motivation!

BLAH to Sunday night! Not quite as bad today though as either tomorrow or Tuesday I will find out whether I've got the new job so I'm fairly eager to get to work and find out. I expect no but I still can't help getting my hopes up, especially with the extra money aspect..
I've sold two games on eBay today so after fees and postage that should leave me about £18. Not too bad! Got some more listed too and plenty more stuff to list.
Today was a NSD since I haven't left the house - bonus!
I made my own rice pudding today for the first time - it turned out amazing! Bought some coconut milk yesterday so we could have a Saturday night treat of piña coladas - had half the tin of coconut milk left so decided to use it for rice pudding to save it going to waste. Absolutely scrumptious! Not exactly "money saving" since it was in the oven for 2 hours (and had a gammon joint in there an hour before that!) but highly recommended. Can't wait to make some more now!

Fingers crossed for the new job - just think how much quicker you could become debt free with the extra money!
The rice pudding sounds amazing. Not usually a huge fan but think I could be convertedMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77
Mortgage overpayment savings - £0.35/£50

Thanks hun! You should definitely try the rice pudding!

Evening all!
Today's not been too bad considering its a Monday. I haven't heard about the new job yet so I should find out either way tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous - on one hand it would be great to get it, because I'm stuck in a bit of a rut at my current job, and a pay rise is always welcomed, but on the other I'm worried if I get it I won't enjoy it/it'll be too stressful compared to my current job! We'll see anyway.
I've made my balance transfer today! :j The only problem is it that he said it could take 7 to 8 working days to pay the balance on my other card, and a payment is due on the 2nd Feb. I'm just going to wait until the end of the week, and if its not gone through I'll have to make the minimum payment - which is just short of £100. It'll mess up my whole budget but I'll have to do it I suppose.
I've been trying to build up courage to call Sky and try haggling with them - there's lots of stories on here of people getting 50% off their bill, but I've a strong feeling I'll be one of those that just ends up getting cancelled straight away without being offered anything!!
Today's been a bit spendy. I had to buy my monthly bus pass (£75, eek! Totally budgeted though, of course), but I did have a few unnecessary buys too - £3.75 on a concertina folder to organise my mail in, £1 on a toy for the dog (technically my parents dog, he's very spoiled and I can't resist getting him something new if I see something cheap!) And the worst... £5 on a glossy magazine.. "Cosmosutra" hahah! :rotfl: Figured it'll be some 'interesting' reading
Besides the bus pass though, this extra £10 I spent was money I had in my purse that was extra from anything I've budgeted, so not *too* bad.
Tomorrow should be good, got free tickets to go to the cinema with OHWill see if we can resist some nibbles... mmm popcorn...

So I took the plunge and phoned Sky - wish I hadn't bothered now! All they could offer me was 10% off - and now I've got the confirmation email through it says it's a resubscription, so I'm back to being tied into a 12 month contract. For the sake of three measly quid a month. Grrrr!! Very annoyed he didn't mention it would restart the contract. He's going to call me back apparently to try and offer me a deal for broadband (currently I have my bb with Orange/EE - was thinking of switching to Sky though, but through Quidco for £110) - when he phones back I'll be sure to tell him how pee'd off I am that he didn't mention I was entering a new contract. Surely they HAVE to give you that information?!0

Evening
Phone Sky back now and tell them that the gentleman didn't tell you it was a contract renewal and they should cancel it. If they don't ask to speak to a manager and put in a complaint. If push comes to shove they say all calls are recorded and monitored for training purposes so ask to listen to that. They probably didn't record it but it shows you mean business. It stinks when companies do that. Sky did it to me last year, I did all I've just said and I got the contract cancelled and kept the discount. You're in the right so don't let them bully you.
With regards to the cinema tomorrow. The two main ones near me both have a 99p store nearby so I go and pick up popcorn, cans of pop and sweets/crisps and take them in with me. Never been stopped. I used to hide them but last time I walked in with a huge bag with 99p store written all over it and clearly could see what was in it. Didn't stop me. I fed myself, my daughter and my teenage nephew AND had a few bits to take home all for just under a fiver, same price as a glossy magazine!!
Enjoy whatever you're going to see and good luck with Sky.CC1: 10273.70/6892.56. CC2: 1000/832

Oh yes, certainly wouldn't buy cinema snacks from the cinema! I always smuggle things in :rotfl:
Thanks hun, I may give Sky a call back tomorrow. The gent said he'd phone back "in a few minutes" with some broadband offers for me but he never did. Bloody salespeople!0 -
Just a quick update.
Didn't get the job I interviewed for last week. I was close apparently, but someone working in a similar role with more experience beat me to it. Fair enough. I did get good feedback which was nice though and gave me some confidence to keep looking as I generally have little belief in myself.
Had a free trip to the cinema with OH, took some snacks from Wilko- spent about £3 and got half the stuff left for some treats at the weekend!
Sold another item on eBay so that's another bit of money in the pot.
Feeling a bit unmotivated the last couple of days. I think feeling in limbo with the CC is not helping much. Once the money is transferred and I can make a payment I'll feel better I think.0
