Jazee, when I was 13 I made a deal with my Mum and Dad that my share of the family allowance (mine being eldest was more, added to my sister's then halved) was given to me weekly. With that I had to buy my school dinners, my school uniform and my going out/dossing about clothes. Then I was "fed" breakfast and tea from the family food.
When I left school and the family allowance of about £7 was no longer coming to me, the deal was the first £20 a week I earned after tax was "my money", the next £20 a week I earned was "keep to the family" and then anything after that was "mine" again. The incentive was to make sure that I lived within my means, paid my way, but realised the value of hard work to save for things that I wanted or needed for myself.
When I got married and moved in with EX mil to save for a house, we had to pay £200 a month each (our mortgage 4 months later was just over £300 a month!)
So it's a judgement call as to how much is the right amount - be prepared to work out figures so that it is much more financially beneficial for them to live with you than try and strike out on their own before they are ready - uni student halls with elec/gas/internet shared bathrooms and no food are hard to come by at less than £80pw - private sector bedsit renting would likely be more, so it gives you a starting point.
Check for certain when CHB and TC stop, as they usually run on for a while and take that into account. (DD2 stopped 31/08 although her last A level was beginning of June, DD1 stopped at her 19th birthday as she completed her A levels in the June - she resat the AS level year)
HTHThe cold never bothered me anyway0 -
DD had a wonderful day. She's very pleased with herself. And very tired. Hoping that bodes well for sleeping tonight
but she did take her cardi off and it seems someone has gone home with it. I wouldn't mind, I put her bl00dy name in it!
DS refusing to go to swimming lessons, he had a bump and scraped his knee. Thinks it will sting. I've told him he's having a bath if he doesn't go
Just doing more paid stuff then will go feed them...Bossymoo

Bossy if her name is in it chances are it will be back tomorrow. Once another child had it on the name would have been hidden.
Boys home with the awful news that another student has died tragically on a family holiday, same form as the boy who died in the summer. So dreadfully sad for the family and whole school community. 2014 not looking any better than 2013 ;(The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

The National Railway Museum is open from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm in the winter. CY and I were planning to meet there around lunchtime (maybe about 12 noon, but could be earlier) and I shall be able to stay until about 3.30 pm, but the plans are all very flexible atm. Come when you can and stay for as long as you want to.
Now that our friend has gone home, DH and I have taken down the Christmas decorations, but he has left me to put them away0 -
Dusty that's awful - heartbreaking. Hope your boys are ok xBossymoo
