I have just had a thought, if the Co-op send out cheques based on one phone call, how do they know there even was a charge? Even if the Co-op asked for a copy of the letter, anyone could send any random 'debt collector letter' to the Co-op and ask them to send them money!
It is actually terrible of the Co-op (owned by their members, and having paid NO dividend this year!) to capitulate like this; I do hope the OP doesn't end up out of pocket but what a sorry state of affairs all round.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I can't seem to win with you lot! The advice was to complain to the Co Op. I did and now it's sorted. Job done.0

It is not, this is awful. Did you not read any advice, no-one told you to pay £149 or even 14p!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes it is and now you are £149 out of pocket.
And watching the letterbox for jam tomorrow, please Scan the cheque when it arrives and post it up , if it is true I think we will all want a bit of that.
I will be down the CO_OP like a flash !
People wanting things "over and done" is how these scammers work, the pressure boiler scam has been around since Roman times.Be happy...;)0 -
perhaps you do not understand what a "forum" is
its a place where you ask questions and get ideas , where people dissent and advise you on this even if you dont like it or dont agree with it (a bit like the forum we call parliament)
you asked for advice and you got it, and still are
its not OVER until its OVER and you do not have one penny of that £149
I am thinking of ringing up a few co-ops myself and getting some extra money, maybe these PPC`s will start doing it seeing as its more lucrative than charging people to park
its most certainly not a success and you need to change your forum username now as its clearly economical with the truth lol
the whole point of this was to get the extortionate charge cancelled , not to pay the scammers who will now use it as proof they can extort money from other uninformed people , all you have done is let them perpetrate this scam on others and that is worse than the original harm they were doing
pay a bully some money and he will go and bully others into paying too0 -
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Yes, the Co Op asked for the relevant info relating to the parking notice. And yes, I will see if the cheque does materialise.
I honestly thought I was doing the right thing given the advice to contact the co op to get it sorted. They are no longer able to cancel these 'fines' so are paying them. I don't see what I have done wrong here, really. Yes, it would be better if it was quashed but Co Op aren't doing that now and I think most people given the chance to have it sorted like I have would take it.0 -
Perhaps Co-op are playing the long game. Perhaps they wish to get rid of this PPC and hope to justify cancelling their contract by showing that they are costing them (and me, as a shareholder), money. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

No, in fact great news, where did you get this "fine" think I will head over myself, could do with £149,Be happy...;)0
