    thank you badger..
    glad that iWeb opened up easily for you.
    thank you for letting me know that you don't need separate accounts...it would be strange if they were to create that inflexibility.

    so, you are saying that if you open an S&S ISA you will be able to move funds into it aswell as shares. i would be interested to know how you settled on iWeb as the best option for you. and why you have chosen to move to them from HL...i guess to avoid HL's 0.45%/annum charge.

    You're very welcome. Glad to be able to help.

    I settled on iWeb after playing around with Snowman's excellent spreadsheet.

    At the moment I have a very small ISA with HL (only 2 year's S&S element) currently invested in 1 VLS Fund. Next tax year I intend to invest the full amount and am considering transferring in old cash ISAs up to another £33k bringing the total to over £55k, with another substantial cash ISA maturing in 2015.

    From June, HL would be charging me £105 or £251 (on £55k ish).
    I'm currently paying £24.

    iWeb charge £25 account opening and £5 per deal. As I don't deal very often and can afford to invest lump sums, it seemed like a good choice.

    Of course, only time will tell :cool:

    thanks badger

    all understood

    i need to find Snowman's spreadsheet again

    i think i have narrowed the search for a home for my ISA down to:

    * iWeb
    * The Share Centre
    * III
    * YouInvest
    * BestInvest

    with a view to using my Wesleyan SHP as my main pension fund alongside a riskier, spicier ISA porfolio i can manage myself.

    ....as an aside, is it possible to set up these ISAs so that they will take fees from outside of the ISA fund:question:

    sorry, BestInvest have a 0.40% fee on investment value up to £250k, which i don't like the look of. shame, as they have an office 5 minutes from where i live.

    YouInvest also charge 0.20%.

    i like the look of The Share Centre, but i don't think they allow investment in US shares, which would be a bit frustrating.

    what do folks think of this tariff?

    I decided upon II. They set up a trading account as well as an ISA; you then need to pop the fee into that once a quarter so that it doesn't come from the ISA.

    ok, so did you move most holdings as cash to keep costs down? or decide to move in specie to remain 'in the market'?

    hi
    doing the same move from hl to III myself. its a personal choice re cash vs in specie but see the III website for their transfer offer to reimburse you upto £120 if transfer initiated before 28th feb.
    I doing this but also sending a letter to HL to get transfer fee waived as the III offer wouldnt cover all of my fees and i agree with the principle of them waiving it.
