Ali I agree...it's about knowing where you stand with budgeting. Did quite a good job with the presents (not extravagant) but could have done much better had I known. He actually didn't contribute to any of dds presents in the end but got the pleasure of seeing them open the ones I bought, wrapped and sweated over....:rotfl: taking the credit! Oh well next xmas is going to be very different!
Yes Ig...good idea....After school club fees may have to wait!
Spent £3.40 on a Turkish cheese wrap and cup of tea
It's a crawl to payday!
Hope you're all having a good evening

This week has left me feeling like I've been run over by a truck...but by all accounts hasn't been a bad one. Thoroughly grateful I donot have to get up tomorrow.
Not going shopping tomorrow...making stores stretch for another week.
Have to take some work to a colleague on Sunday (train fare on Oyster travel card)
Only spent 90p on a cup of tea out today :T
So so tired can barely type!
Wishing you all a thrifty weekend! :A

I know how you feel, I'm heading for another early night too and so glad no alarm clock in the morning!
I've loosely planned a relaxing, pottering, bit of filing/decluttering and pamper myself weekend. No spends, no rush and no petrol usage

Baby steps I do at the weekend especially:
- leave the oven door open after cooking so the heat comes out and helps dry clothes on airer quicker (after being out on the line if the weather is dry)
- turn off iron before ironing last item
- sort the recycling/rubbish into outside wheelie bins in daylight (save using electric for outside house light)
Love the little things as they're no bother to do and definitely all add up.Back on the DFW Wagon:

I do all that sort of stuff despite the OH actually working out just how much it saves - in our case its pence:( But it makes me feel better and a penny saved and all that............dont forget to recharge all your possible rechargeables at work.............:D

When I first came across the MSE site I was addicted to the 'What small things can I do today?' thread on DFW. It really opened my eyes and drew me in (thank goodness) :T
No probs with ironing though as I only do this in emergencies :rotfl:
Got to go to Post Office today to return an item. Eating frugally. Started tidying...want to declutter some rubbish today (starting with dds room which is a bottomless pit)

The small things over the last 7 day have saved me 60p, that includes going round each night and morning checking everything is off at the socket that should be. I make that £31.20 a year - happy with that and haven't managed to afford the LED energy saving bulbs - we've got the 30% saving ones at the moment. The 3KW LED ones are £10-15 each  and we'll need a new dimmer transformer for the lounge at @ £30
Not using the tumble dryer is saving me a whole load more too, I got a bit lazy with that last year, but only use it once a week for 30 mins to dry/fluff the towels up.
The oven door open one has been a real eye-opener for me, I've noticed how much warmer the kitchen gets and in turn as it drifts through, it's kicking the heating off (when it's on). Though the candles have also helped raise temps by 2C each evening.
I've just plugged my elec and gas weekly reading into the website - elec will owe me @ £50 in June and gas @ £100, bearing in mind I had a £100 credited back over Christmas for gas as well! And I plan to change suppliers end of Feb when my fixed deal comes up - looks like I can save another £20 a month elsewhere too :j
Not much ironing here either - just DS's school shirts and the odd thing I've put on in the dark and realised too late it'll need an iron when it's washed :rotfl:
Perhaps I've gone a bit over-obsessed?! :rotfl:
Ooh I MUST get some stuff onto eBay, they're doing free insertion on Buy It Now as well. I am at the stage of being fed up of moving boxes around in the study that is all car boot and eBay stuff, so this should kick me up the bum!
Nerve in neck is slightly better as well - slept with a hot water bottle under/around it - until the dog nicked it and took it in his bed. Naughty thief :rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

I work from home so no savings for me there sadly, but I have learnt that it's cheaper to charge my iPad and listen to the radio through that (it lasts 10 hrs apparently), than plugging the normal radio in - the transformer is the expensive bit!
A new one I've just started doing, so will see how that affects my readings next Saturday. Hopefully another unit or 2 less :jBack on the DFW Wagon:

Not at all! After all it is as you say the small things that make a difference. For us we are all out low energy almost everything - lightbulbs, appliances etc. (OH is an energy saving/renewable energy nut) - a log burner and no tumble dryer and solid fuel CH heating/hot water/cooking AKA an AGA. Energy company cant understand why our electricity consumption goes up in summer ( AGA off so water heated by electric) but they still have to pay us a FIT...........feed in tariff from solar panels. No joke they have been out and tested and re tested our meter:rotfl: They will probably send out the cavalry again this year as we are looking at solar heating for the hot water............and even with all this I am obsessed with turning things off. If we had gas it may well be different but as we live in the sticks there is no chance mains gas will ever reach us.......dont want to think about when we can no longer carry coal and chop logs. Makes me too sad:(
Interesting info on ipad - thanks!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
