Sorry to hear about your very late night and early morning - hope you got a good nights sleep last night.

You could do either with the car insurance, just make sure you've got a list of what the new insurance offers, ie. courtesy car, legal cover, excess figures, etc and then you can check that your old company offer you the same if they agree to match the cost.

Personally, I just dump the old insurance company by phoning them to say not renewing and then cancel any DD that is set up to them. If you go that route, set up the new insurance first to ensure you've got continuous cover, ie. one ends and the other starts at the same time/date point.

Then, use the askMid.com website a few days later - this is the database that the Police use for checking cars are insured and is open to the public to check your own by inputting your car reg - yours should show up as covered, if it doesn't phone new insurer and tell them to get their finger out :rotfl: They should update it straight away, at worst within 24 hrs but do check.

    Happy saving £30 a month :D

I couldn't get on this site at lunchtime so didn't call insurance. Wanted to check advice first. Mmmm think I might take the dumping route:rotfl:

Thanks for reminding me about cancelling DD

Good day today (so far!) Slept and worked hard.

    NS lunch.

Had some brilliant money news. Got a letter from my bank telling me they owed me some money!!!!!!:D Had to read several times. Apparently I tried to withdraw £50 in Jan 2006 (YES 2006!!!!) and never actually got given the money but they took it out of my account.

What's telling is in those days I didn't realise as I didn't have any grasp on my fiances...used the CCs!

I literally jumped around the room and kissed my son as I'm getting £65 refunded BONUS!!! This is going towards his headphones that I broke and was an extra annoying spend!

This never happens so made my morning! :T

Son is now making bread and butter pudding with all the scraps of bread. He loves doing it and I'm all for that!!!!!

Got a pork slow cooker concoction with rice for dinner. Bath. RELAX watching TV hopefully.

DB still here. Gone wandering. Says he's on way back. We're taking it a day at a time. He is going to need a lot of practical support.

    Have a good evening!

Good news on the refund :) talking of which........PPI? Ever had any in what ever shape or form? We have claimed lots back even on stuff from over 12 years ago. Worth a punt??

Yum I love BB pud.....has he ever tried Delia's chocolate one? Not for the faint hearted. I do one made with pannetone and marmalade.

Hope all turns out OK with DB.

Yey that's great news about the £50 what a nice suprise :)

Re: the car insurance, you can always ask your current insurer if they will match it, I do find changing insurers a bit of a pain as you have to request proof of no claims and then send it off to your new insurers.

An echo in the background of the fab news of the £50 :j

Good point about the No Claims proof, however, alot of insurers are linked to a database now and can get that information electronically and very easily so they do it for you - definitely worth checking though.

I found Direct Line are out on their own (not on comparison sites) so they did want written proof as did the follow on insurer - I just scanned in and emailed. Since then, all been electronic for mine.

  • A sneaky update!! Office day and plenty to be getting on with...:(

So: Called old car insurance (£698 a year including legal cover and instalments) to see if they could match new quote. Interesting process. She said as I was such an amazingly loyal customer she would give me 40 quid off  Rubbish!!! So cancelled :T
Am getting new insurance for at least £300 less today. Will update (this is actually really exciting for me but must literally bore the pants off everyone else!:rotfl:)

Spent £3.50 on lunch yesterday. Unforseen circumstances but delicious!

Is this the longest month that ever existed????? Am scraping by to payday.

Got to pay £5 deposit to ds scouts camp (£20 total)
DD joined fencing club after school and they want £30 up front two days before payday! It's £3 a session. Worth it as poor thing always has to go to breakfast club and after school club as I have always worked full time :(

Am going to borrow this interest free from friend.

Well..other news....so far so good with DB at mine!:T I haven't lived with anyone for a long time and was a bit scared! However, he makes my house spotless each day and has bled my radiators:jI am very easily pleased :rotfl:He bought bin bags, kitchen roll, cleaners, polish, crisps, pizzas and penguins (biscuits!) He isn't working at the moment. He had an accident when he was young which left him with a physical disability. I am so unused to having things done for me. He has promised to sort out my wreck of a garden in the summer. He is going to my mum' s from Friday to Monday (to look after his 3 yr old dd) and then back to mine whilst trying to sort out new accomodation. He's doing well though so I'm happy
