I am just getting into 'putting real money aside to save for things'.
I reckon much wiser than insurance I may not use for a particular cat.
Now let's not talk about cat food! The poor things have had their food 'downgraded' many a time and are now on the A$da special (still costs loads though!)
Thank you!

There are sites where local folks rate local tradesmen. Sorry but I forget what it's called but you could use good old Google5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.000 -
Hi RR
Just popped in to say Good Luck with your DF journey. I look forward to reading more in the near future.
MIT mentioned a local tradesmen website for a potential roofing contractor. The site we use is www.checkatrade.com Hope this works in your area.
Good Luck x0 -

MIT - Trust me the saddle is well and truely wedged thanks to all the chips and mince pies I've been scoffing! :rotfl:
Quick lunchtime update:
Had to give DS £20 (need the change!) for school shoes today as his have disintegrated again....get them from sho% z*ne...not a brilliant long term investment but the only ones that fit his size 10 incredibly wide 'bear' feet:rotfl:He is back tomorrow.
Clarkes have a sale..........I may have indulged.
No sleep!
Start of term mate, sods law!
Hate this when it happens (frequently) I read somewhere on here about a 'worry list' (apologies to the person I've blatently stolen the idea from) but thought...that's what I have!!!!
My worry list (aside from work issues! such a long list for me)- Damp patches on roof and walls from downpours indicating roof probs and lots of money!
- Rotting wooden kichen doors shaking in the gales (again money!)
- Blown down fence: ditto
- Damaged guttering (urgent...been going on too long)
Plan is to get through Jan (the longest month in the world) agreed. and start to research repairs for house so that I can budget...
Oh also cat has a weird pink lump developed on head and needs investigating. She is 13 and seems very well in herself. She's insured. (Have 4 cats)
More later...got to get through day from hell at work semi- delerious from lack of zzzzzzzzz:(
Never good being at work with a lack of sleep, I hate that. as it is almost 11 I had best shift off bed bound!
Hope the week is going well
xxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
I love this site
Thank you everybody!
Although it will probably get me sacked as should be halfway to work by now!:rotfl:

Back home and loving it!
Money not budgeted for this month so far: DS shoes, DS headphones and DS Explorers subs (£20). Don't have to pay subs till next week though. Still seem to be on track for this month though (as no over payments made on CCs this monthThis is because I didn't use CC for xmas presents this year :T
Headphones are being sent back....will wait till end of the month for new ones (DS has some money on a voucher store card!)
Usually go to a greasy cafe on a Thursday with a friend from work for lunch. Decided to only have a cuppa and eat back at work....didn't exactly go to plan as had a delicious feta/spinach pancake some Turkish ladies were making (new thing) which was £ 2.50Was nice though!
Can't wait for payday :T Then I will update my signature with all CC REDUCTIONS!!!!!
Hope everyone's had a good day

Off to work I go...:( Am grateful for a job though
Soon as I go back start to feel rough! All those germs....
One of my problems re spending has been around thinking 'my kids are only this age once' and giving them 'experiences' (nothing MAJOR)....
Well didn't go to the panto this year (about 22 pounds each and didn't book to see Russell Howard (DS fav) which would have been 66 pounds ) so getting disciplined and we are all going to live!
More later...have a great FRIDAY :j

Hi Rach, Was flicking through the diaries deciding if it's something I should really be doing to spur me on and saw this post.
Have you looked at Amazon for cat food? Bizarre I know, but they do a subscription service and you can get extra discount and it is free delivery.
We've the fussiest prince and princess cat who only eat the expensive Whiskas pouches and I get 2 x 48 pouch boxes delivered for around £20 a month. It does fluctuate but the same box in Tesco is currently £140 -
