  • Hi Midgie :) Welcome

MIT - Trust me the saddle is well and truely wedged thanks to all the chips and mince pies I've been scoffing! :rotfl:

    Quick lunchtime update:

Had to give DS £20 (need the change!) for school shoes today as his have disintegrated again....get them from sho% z*ne...not a brilliant long term investment but the only ones that fit his size 10 incredibly wide 'bear' feet:rotfl:He is back tomorrow.

    No sleep!
Hate this when it happens (frequently) I read somewhere on here about a 'worry list' (apologies to the person I've blatently stolen the idea from) but thought...that's what I have!!!!

My worry list (aside from work issues!)
    • Damp patches on roof and walls from downpours indicating roof probs and lots of money!
    • Rotting wooden kichen doors shaking in the gales (again money!)
    • Blown down fence: ditto
    • Damaged guttering (urgent...been going on too long)
And this is just the beginning....
Plan is to get through Jan (the longest month in the world :() and start to research repairs for house so that I can budget...

Oh also cat has a weird pink lump developed on head and needs investigating. She is 13 and seems very well in herself. She's insured. (Have 4 cats)

More later...got to get through day from hell at work semi- delerious from lack of zzzzzzzzz:(

    Paid dd breakfast club £5
Paid ds dinners £10 paid ds school trip to ITALY (summer 2014
£50 a month for music course) although money v.tight must let him go as once in a lifetime opportunity, instalments manageable, will help him pass exams???? and beautiful place (Lake Garda)

The rest of us will just have to suffer! :rotfl:

However, he decided to drop learning the trumpet :eek: so will now be going a long as part of the choir :A god only knows if it will get him his grades but I hope he will love it.

Got ds some headphones from e%ay...he says they're fake??

Why oh why is life never simple......?

Watched the prog. on the Salvation Army last night.....v.interesting (not v.religious person but sad to see the decline of things :() couldn't go to bed until finished watching (10.30), no caffeine, window open and no computer so managed some sleep :T
However, tired out of brains still....must focus

Any of this due to storm damage that you claim on your insurance? I would check out the roof thing - we had similar from 2 dislodged tiles. Loss adjuster called it storm damage and suggested we had to re decorate the living room as water had got in - it has made a very small water mark in a corner that nobody sees - big room decorated with Laur*AShl*y paper almost 15 rolls at £25 per roll:eek: I just loved that loss adjuster and of course as he said it was up to us if we decided to decorate or not;)

Of course its fine to eat the biscuits - you didnt pay for them so they are not adding to your debt Mountie and of course because you didnt buy them they are calorie free;)

We have a similar school trip here.............jabs alone are costing nearly £300:eek:

Its the time of year to be tired......first time in what seems ages I arrived in work not with the moon still shining....and I dont work shifts!

Nice one! Thanks for the advice.
Think it's tiles ( worse from storm) was dreading a roofer saying it was a whole roof job for grands!!

Was pitch black as dropped daughter off to school but heard birds singing which felt Spring like?

Make sure your roofer says its storm damage and not just something made worse by storm, if you are claiming.

I have 2 cats BTW..........but dont have them insured. Worlds biggest cat lover but if anything bad happened to them................I would be very sad but I am not sentimental:o Hope your purrball is OK:)

    Thanks again Ig :D

Obviously love the cats but think rather than insure next time I would have put money aside so can use on whichever needed it. Only have two insured  so bad luck on the other two (only joking!)

PS how do you find a roofer who will not rip you off? Hate getting people to do stuff when they know I am clueless and could tell me anything?

I worked out roughly how much our 2 cats cost us per year - food vets etc and divided that by 52 and put that in an envelope each week so when there is a vets bill its not such a shock.............its a budgeting method much used by MSErs on here - I do it with the music dance explorers swimming etc etc fees thing. Now trying it with food budget seems to work so far:)

If you are making a claim for roof contact your insurers. Give them a date for when the damage occurred in recent storms and they will send out an assessor. If approved they may well use their own contractors. If not then find someone by recommendation.
