How Long to Wait For The CAA?

After 10 months I have finally had a decision from The CAA. Thomas Cook refused my claim for a 5hr delay so I contacted CAA 10 months ago. Had a couple of emails apologising for delay in sorting then yesterday I got an email saying 'They had instructed the airline to pay compensation' . Still got to wait for my cheque ! but a result at last.

You must be one of the privileged/lucky few. But lets see if/when cheque actually arrives;)

My experience is that the CAA are a waste of time. I contacted them at the start of September and they missed their timescale. I expected this after reading this forum but thought that if the CAA backed my claim then it may help.

I have had nothing from the CAA since and then I got an email from Thomas Cook yesterday saying that the CAA had been in touch with them to review my claim, which 'after investigation' was rejected yet again.

So it's taken almost 5 months for the CAA to basically pass the buck, which would have put me back to square 1 had I not decided to get a NWNF lawyer to pursue my claim.

A year after putting in my claim and a month after CAA came out on my side TC have paid up £676 for the two of us. Tried the voucher thing first though.
