Small money-saving thing - got an email about a 2 minute survey for Superdrug which will get me 200 points credited to my loyalty card. Survey completed, was indeed 2 minutes.

I pay £15.90 per month for a cinema pass for our local World of CineAs long as I see two films a month it's worthwhile and it's something that's in my budget each month so I don't consider it to be "entertainment" or a frivolous expense as it's allocated. I have been to see five films so far since the start of the year (American Hustle, Frozen, 12 Years a Slave, the Railway Men and Gravity - although that came with a £1.50 3D surcharge) so it works out quite well. If we use the Orange code with it, the person coming with me gets in completely free, so I normally take a friend who is pretty strapped for cash with me on a Wednesday
I'm much more adventurous in terms of the types of films I see now as I feel like they're free because they're covered when I get paid by the direct debit.
I still won't watch Jennifer Aniston movies though...:rotfl:0 -
What did you think of The Railway Man Mooo? We keep saying we fancy seeing it.
Well I avoided needing to visit the cashpoint again all weekend, which I was quite chuffed with, but it should be said that MrEH bought dinner last night. That did include the beer festival, breakfast this morning, lunch today (which we actually ate as dinner when we got back) and other odds and ends, though. We ended up spending nothing at all on extra transport once we got to Manchester - we walked to the velodrome where the festival was yesterday morning, and due to the timings and the festival closing early (sold out) the trams weren't stopping there when we came out (football had just finished) so we walked back the same way, along the canal. Step count was HUGE for the day - over 22,000 - so that was quite a bonus too! :T The little bit extra we spent to stay in a city centre Premier Inn was well worth it - no question.
Plans for this week is to do quite a lot of not spending anything.I do have money in the bank, but that's the stuff I transferred over from my "fun spends" account, so if I can transfer some of it back again I'll be a happy camper. we're considering the idea of doing another beer festival next month, if we can get train tickets/accommodation cheaply enough - but if we can't then we'll just say "thanks, but no thanks" to that one.
Oh, and the fantastic breakfast place? Still every bit as good!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I really enjoyed it. It's NOT an easy watch due to the subject matter but Colin Firth is excellent as is the guy playing the younger version of him. Well worth a look.0 -
Thanks Mooo...just need to remind myself which is the cheap night at the cinema now!
Credit Card payment has come out. I was sitting down, it's fine....Seems that the credit I was waiting from for posh underpinning shop must have gone in between the statement date and the payment being taken though as there is £8 less been taken than I was expecting. I've transferred that back to my own account though, so all good!
I'm giving some proper thought to the idea of trying to do a set number of Small Money savings Things each week. Not sure exactly what, just pondering it at the moment. It seems that sometimes a lot of things come along automatically which all help a bit, and other times you have to look a bit harder for them, but it's the looking a bit harder where I currently let the side down a bit.Hmmm.
Meals are planned for the week, everything we need food-wise has been bought. The roll, cheese & ham I didn't eat as part of my Dinner last night has made lunch today instead, so all good there. I need to keep an eye on the Sleeper ticket releases as we've got travel to book for Easter - if they're released for the date we need I'll be pouncing on them as fast as possible as there is a heck of a saving to be made if you get in quick.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Am I right in thinking you're in the Islands somewhere Pippi?
Where are you moving to?
We do indeed live in fine island lands famous for cheese, oatcakes, meat, ice cream, fish and of course Highland Park (and Scapa malts) we love our windy but bonnie lands over the sea on a ferry from the far north of Scottish mainland (If you get to Shetland you've gone a peedie bit too far), moved here in 2001 with a wee blip down to Ed to finish my MSc and both kids have done secondary school here which was the main reason for moving up.
We're moving to the Kingdom just north of Ed within the next six months. DD finishes school and heads to uni so my work here is done

*whispers* Puplet is quite the cutest thing I've seen in a long while. I'm utterly smitten, I must confess! :happyhear
So glad the puppy is cute and yes you and Aunty Wik-McB are on retraing duty.
Mind on we've only 3 supermarkets here and not trains (above or below the ground) - you'll have your work cut out.
Glad the weekend was fun! Love a good wee cafe brekkie
Well done on the grub budget coming in on the nose too!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Bleurgh - well *slightly* interesting week so far. Delightful chap decided to quite deliberately rear-end my car while I was driving to work on Tuesday, then whilst I was attempting to ask him to part with insurance details (mainly in case I found any damage to either the car or me later) he drove into me. Twice. That's actually *me*, rather than "my car" you understand. As I said - charming character! :rotfl: With the exception of some soreness and bruising, I've escaped with absolutely NO injuries - quite incredibly lucky really and it's only hit me since exactly how lucky I was. The car has also escaped without damage - thanks largely to the fact that he managed to hit the back of it absolutely square-on I suspect. All now in the hands of the Police who will probably prosecute for failure to provide details, failure to stop at the scene, and dangerous driving. The last one's the winner - 12 months disqualified if they get him for that.
Anyway, as a result I've not even thought about spending anything this week, so presuming I arrive home with purse untouched tonight, that'll be 4 NSD's this week. :j :A Tomorrow will definitely be a spend-day, so by my reckoning that's 14/20 and I now need a new target for next month - any ideas?!
Seems I never quite hit "pay me" on the TCB money, but I spotted that yesterday and NOW it's winging its way to the bank account. Also had another £4 go payable so that's being converted to CC points - which will either double or quadruple its value depending how it gets used. :j Actually I can claim that as a Small Money saving Thing can't I!
Also on the subject of Small Money saving Things, and indeed Tesco, I've been accepted for another product trial on their Customer panel - which happens to be for.....wait for it....CHEESE!Happy Happy Happy - free cheese, what's not to like?! I also did two reports on the last trial (the ready Meals one) earning 10 CC points on each.
Off on a day-trip jolly to Leeds tomorrow - market wanderings and general exploraging and tea and cake and nice things like that, and all for the princely sum of £10 return on the train. Bargainousness indeed. Will extract money from cashpoint tonight to pay for spendage but that'll be "my" money so any foody items bought from it won't count as groceries.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I'm over the bridge in Ed, so shout if you need anything0 -
Goodness EH  Wot a nutter! What about intended bodily harm - of you? If a driver purposely drove at a copper, they'd not just be looking to book him/her for driving offences and having a bald front tyre.........
Well, I do hope that you are OK and that the pillock is caught - I know you think there is no damage to your vehicle, but I hope he's caught - for justice sake!
Oooh, how lovely a trip to Leeds. Have you anything in particular that you're keen to see? Is this a photo shoot, or a shopping trip or a 'I've not been here before, so I thought I'd come and see what I can see' type trip? Are there any good street/covered markets in Leeds (I'm thinking food). Look forward to hearing all about it - here or 'there'
Keep safe and have a good 'un.
