Yes my equipment is internet enabled via the sky wireless connectors for on demand services.
I have had this for 18 months though.
I suspect that is enough to satisfy them now.

I assume they can determine all the sky boxes are in the vicinity of a single router.

Certainly should allow anyone with this type of set up to bin their phone cables if they want.

This only applies to new installs where a broadband connection is available as an alternative to the telephone, as already noted earlier in the thread.

Here's Sky's updated terms and conditions with regard Multi-Screen

So you are saying the memo to all technical advisers at Sky telling them how to implement the change in policy is incorrect....... Okay !

    Whatever you say :)

I've just quoted directly from the new Sky terms & conditions and I've read confirmation of this elsewhere on the net and in Sky's own help forum.
Since yours is the only dissenting voice, perhaps you've read this "memo" incorrectly?

    It's not me saying it. Here's Sky's own updated terms and conditions (again) for you;
Each Multiscreen subscription you take out can only be viewed at the same Address as your first Sky digital subscription.
    • If you have an active Multiscreen subscription, the Box used to receive your first Sky digital subscription and the Box(es) used to receive your Multiscreen subscription(s) must always be connected to any residential broadband service you receive, provided the Boxes can be connected to broadband and we have supplied you with the equipment necessary to make the connections (e.g. an On Demand connector). You must let us collect information through the connections, including Box location information.
    • You must give us reasonable access to inspect the Boxes at your Address to check that any Box used to receive a Multiscreen subscription is located at the same Address as the Box used to receive your first Sky digital subscription.

Perhaps you can quote from the "memo" where it contradicts the above?
Older installations will already be connected via telephone (if done correctly), but many of those decoders won't be internet enabled and so must remain with their telephone line.

Or are you saying Sky have dispensed with the safeguard which prevents non internet connected Multi-Room boxes being distributed to different addresses?
  • Yes just realised I purchased my own sky+ HD boxes from car boot sales for my multiscreen and sky have those boxes registered/paired.
Along with the wireless connectors I received I can be monitored via the internet.

However the point is made plenty people with old equipment can ditch the phonelines.

I've yet to see this anywhere in writing (unless connected via internet) ...

We've had sky for 15 years and never ever connected to a phone line. Not sure what all the fuss is about. We've never needed it to get technical support or use any of the functions. I've always told sky were not connected and never had an issue. Ditch the phone lines people.

If you read the thread, the "fuss" is because Sky often makes people pay for two full price subscriptions if they fail or refuse to connect their Multi-Room decoders to the same fixed and operational landline. The advent of internet-connected decoders has hastened the end of the telephone requirement for owners of this enabled equipment. The discussion in this thread is about whether it still applies to older subscriptions with old equipment.

Your case appears to be far different in that you apparently don't have Multi-Room and Sky have indeed long since relaxed the phone line requirement for single boxes.

Ah you again. Nope multiroom as standard and never connected. Not in 15 years ;-). Likewise for my parents and they've had it since just after the dinosaurs became extinct. ;-)
