upgrading SKY+ box

£10.50 for me, unfortunately.
Just started looking into other options though and it seems like the world of TV provision has moved on since I last did it

I rang the first time and they would only offer the HD box at £199 puis £15 delivery. I told them not to bother and cancelled my movies (just the Christmas half price ones) while I was on.
Unfortunately they cancelled the movies immediately, so when I rang up to complain tonight, they ended up giving me a couple of months free movies , and they offered the SKY+HD upgrade with free box and installation for £5 a month. As the movies Id just cancelled was £8 a month, I was happy with that!Sealed Pot no 2011

So you got the box you wanted for free, which was all you really wanted to achieve in the first place , so that's good news . Well done

Woop Woop.
I was going to offer some advice, but you've already got what you wanted.
For reference though - yes you can buy Sky boxes second hand, and it's perfectly legal to do so. But be careful. If the box you are buying is still on Sky's system as active on another account (each box has a unique number), pairing the viewing card doesn't work. It flags up on their systems.Save in 2014 Challenge: #193 £4,197.70/£50000 -

True just happened to us when I wanted to upgrade the multiroom to HD & On Demand. Got a box off fleabay for £33 and went to pair it up. It was still on an account apparently.
They went away for a while and said, it's OK they had cancelled and the manager over-rode the flag that was stopping the pairing. So they can still pair them, but not if the other account is still active.0 -

Ive currently got an old style (white) sky+ box on a sky package. I cant get 'anytime' because of the old style box, and sky want £199 for an HD box.
I also have the old white sky+ box and can't get "Anytime". Do you have to have an HD TV (which we don't have) to get and HD Box and what is the benefit of an HD box pls? Also do you still get Sky+, IYSWIM?
