I used this book along with YouTube.

You have to be careful with learning crochet from the web as the USA and UK have different terms. That book is English. For example, the stitch called single crochet in US is a UK double crochet. A US double crochet is called a treble crochet.
  • I know there are foreign drama lovers on the OS board. The second season of the Bridge starts tonight on BBC4. Can't wait.

    Thank you:)
Might treat myself to that with my voucher - I'd love to be able to develop a creative hobby!
  • yvieblue - I started to learn to crochet last year, I borrowed lots of books from my friend but just could not master it just through reading books so I used youtube and picked it up really quick, Bethintx1 videos on youtube are really good, I used all her videos to crochet my first granny square blanket... good luck and let us know how you get on.

Weather is still pretty grim here, nipped to Dover to drop one of dh's bunnies off to her new home, then called in to mr T's on the way back, purchased a few reduced boxes of chocolates and a football moneybox with choc coins in they all have long best before dates so thought I'd get them ready for easter, also bought a lucky dip for the lotto tonight and won £25!! first ticket I've bought for years so really pleased.... will put the winnings into our sealed jar :)

We had chilli tonight for tea and I did far too much rice, I really don't know what to do with it, I hate throwing food out but dare not reheat tomorrow, I'm wondering if I could make it in to some sort of cold rice salad tomorrow ?? what do you all think, would you risk using it?

  • Jacksmummy, not really helping much I suppose but have you got dogs? If I make too much I mix it with the dogs food, they love it and the vet told me it's very good for them. Failing that as long as it's only heated up once more and really hot it should be fine.
  • fiftyeighter - Thank you... giving it to the dog is a fab idea, will mix it in with her food tomorrow.

DLA form came today :( but it doesn't run out until May so I will just take my time with it, I have two major hospital appointments in February so I will not have all of the information until then. I hate having to fill it in and now that PIP has come in I dread it even more :(

I know they are awful - i just filled one in for my father - well Attendance Allowance. Mine is another year but my ESA is coming up soon and the dreaded envelope - makes me so anxious. Remember these forms don't define you as a person they just describe you xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
